@tehrugger I mean, 1st person games make me physically ill (dizzy, nauseous, and give me migraines that can last for several days) when I play them, so...at least in this case, I'm not being picky to be picky. I was very excited to play and now I can't unless I'm willing to deal with that. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The first person making gamer’s feel nauseous was a genuine issue that I read about when I was looking into whether the game would allow you to switch between first and third person. Not that it effects me personally, but it’s a “preference” of mine and I would like the option to be able to choose how I view myself in a game. Not a case of being picky or anything just how I like to enjoy my games.
Its more of a design choice I believe, dont think it will be long on PC before mods allow a 3rd person view but a lot of the time games designed in 1 way can feel odd in other viewpoints especially when aiming and firing weapons. Based on how games handle bullet physics (in a lot of games the bullet actually comes from your face and not the weapon itself due to your aiming viewpoint).
This can make it problematic when giving players the choice to switch views at will. Or you have games that feel clunky when in 3rd person combat (Skyrim/Fallout etc) as they were mainly designed with 1st person in mind. I would like the option for 3rd person so I can view character more but fairly happy with an immersive 1st person view as it stands.
Well don’t games that allow you to spend time creating and customising how your character looks feel kind of pointless in the end if they always had first person in mind? I get what you mean about it being a design choice, but I wouldn’t care if they didn’t say “give yourself some tattoos and scars and hair that you’ll hardly see unless there’s a cutscene”.
That makes me feel like the effort that I put in to make my character look cool ends up being redundant. I don’t really enjoy that many first person games so I don’t often buy them but I will definitely still get this game even without the option for third person which they may end up including at a later date though an update or something who knows.
All I was saying is that I like to have a choice between things. Maybe that choice isn’t always available for whatever reason. Maybe like you said the game wasn’t designed for that in mind. But I still want my flying cars damnit!
Guess the difference with this is that its a pure RPG so there will be A LOT of cutscenes and scene transitions where you will see your character that you wont notice. Had The Witcher 3 been 1st person you would have seen Geralt enough to not miss seeing the character in the 3rd person viewpoint.
Im not saying it would have worked of course (works far better in games with firearms) but from a purely visual standpoint you would have seen the character enough in cutscenes to see how he looked and your customisations. Being able to control flying cars would have been cool but this is beyond the scope of anything CD Projekt Red have ever attempted before and scale of it is already looking mindblowing.
The Witcher 3 was already a large step up from The Witcher 2 and this looks to be an even larger step for them. They hadnt done open world before The Witcher 3 and they havent done 1st person before either and now they are making one of the most ambitious first person open world games ever. Tough ask for them to incorporate everything with the first attempt.
Actuall well could still try this game beacuse well first Deus Ex games had been only in first person and well some articles on net give that CP 2077 could be polished Deus Ex and that beside that trailer from this year E3 can give mine attention now since SE seems not liking to do so far another DE game
Ironically the first person only perspective was the biggest drawback for me. I hate first person games with a passion because I want to see how good my character looks when killing and fighting things. It's like Overwatch where they let you choose different costumes but you can't even see them while in first person. What's the point?
