It's not, and he didn't create Broly or Bardock to begin with, so he shouldn't have been beholden to their portrayals over 20 years ago. Whether or not they would continue to exist as-is would then depend a LOT on whether he liked them enough as-is, and, surprise! Tori wants to make changes. But now they're mad. Isn't "the creator can tell whatever story they want" the same thing these people whine about?
Not to mention this is a work that's confirmed to have different timelines and "grand side stories". You like GT? There's a timeline for GT. You like Super, not GT? A timeline for that too. There's a place for DB Online, DB Xenoverse, DB Heroes, "Time Breaker" Bardock, "Dark King Vegeta", and "Prince of Destruction"/Majin characters.
"Fans" don't want to hear this for some reason, but establishing side stories and timelines for straight-up "anything goes" hijinks is a great way to *appeal to fans that want to see that.* Which is also a thing people claim to want yet whine about when it happens. "You have to listen to fans" and "fanservice" is actually the exact same thing because listening to them and giving them what they want *is* service.
