I still have to play Yakuza 5...it's installed on my PS3, but I'm still wading through the magnificence of 2 for the sake of retrospect. Can't wait to fistfight a bear, though...it's a nice follow-up to fighting zombies in "Dead Souls."
We're supposed to celebrate the whole "Japa-cheesiness" (omg so disrespectful) aspect of these types of games, while at the same time asking non-gamers to take these narratives seriously.
A man alone by himself pretending to be a star... it's so reminiscent of DMC3 and 4 that's it's painful to watch. This is why non-gamers don't consider this to be an art form -- because we want camp to run along side-by-side with our "mature" storylines (*snrk*) when we don't even know how to write mature stories to begin with.
Yeah, Vergil to me is very much that nice guy who's secretly a badass. A girl I used to know (yes I said it) said that she was "okay with him being nice" because he was an AU character.
Oh, sorry that he's not badass enough for you. Maybe when he comes back in a rage as an ACTUAL DEMON KING he'll finally be able to earn your respect.
The old Vergil is pretty much the asshole bf that every girl wants to be with and gets abused by -- it also explains why this same girl who said "she wouldn't go out with anyone" (I've heard that before) ended up going out with someone else anyway.
Someone "old Vergil-ish" -- a person who actually had considerable "cred" (power) within the gaming community. False power -- that's all it is.
