"WAAAH! There are H8TERS who don't like Metal Gear as much as we do! That's IMPOSSIBLE because EVERYONE LUUUURVS METAL GEAR!" I can only imagine the sheer, petrified shock they'd experience if they ever met me, or knew MY thoughts on MGS. Their fanboy hearts would implode with disbelief.
I can't say I'd be surprised though. They came off as complete pricks when making fun of anyone's opinion that they didn't agree with. Brought back memories, actually.
Haven't played Vergil yet, but let me clarify: I never hated Vergil, and I still don't hate him. He was always a neat villain to me, and one of the only marginally-enjoyable aspects of DMC3. I just hate how the fanbase has overhyped him beyond belief, and made nonsenical claims about motivations that don't even exist in the context of the series...and his voice is a little too nasally for my taste.
I agree entirely. It doesn't help that I prefer the New Vergil, since his motivations and character were clear, and better-written overall. His personal struggle in Downfall was also more compelling.
"Vague Head-Canon & Shoddy Implications > Actual Origins & Vocally-Presented Characteristics", apparently. This is what happens when their only standards of basic narrative competence is derived from the late-90's anime block on Toonami. By those standards, DMC must look like Tennyson or Lovecraft.
Lol, very true. "People see what they want to see."
I remember back when those programs on toonami were being worshiped and everyone thought DBZ was the absolute sh!t. Still do, apparently, if the comments on the second Superman death battle are anything to go on.
If you like Tarantino-style humor and story-telling, give Black Lagoon a shot. If you want a sweeping, Gothic-pulp story with historical references, try Hellsing Ultimate. If you want an old-fashioned D&D fantasy, watch Record of Lodoss War. If you want a deep, tense, masterfully-written saga of growth, read Vagabond.
