Actually, they've been branch out of those series alot more over the years by focusing on more forgotten/lesser known series such as the recently revived Star Fox and not as recently revisited Pikmin. They're even making new IPs here and there such as Wonderful 101 (Viewtiful Joe and Bayonetta's love child) and Splatoon (One of the most addicting TPS I've played in a while).

It's too little and they don't interest me anyways... basically you have to already be a Nintendo fan to buy their stuff, they have little attractive on those who haven't been fans for a long time like me, cause of lack of variety in their roster of franchises.
The only game that attracts me is Bayo 2, but I'm not gonna buy a console for one game.

I don't necessarily agree with the whole having to be a Nintendo fan thing. It may just seem that way with the Wii U, but previous systems had much more to offer than just Nintendo's own IPs. Although, I'd sooner recommend a 3DS for more variety in franchises from different companies than the Wii U.
