No, sorry what I meant was it's currently based on giving out "false hope". As in, it could turn out they do go back on their word. Because nothing is set in stone either way, there's no real truth to it. Though much like yourself, I very much doubt they'd go back on themselves. That's too much like blasting your entire leg off rather than just shooting yourself in the foot.

Well, Capcom already has two peg legs so... ARRRRR.

Coming from someone that liked the reboot, "we were betrayed" WAS the fan reaction when Capcom decided to do DmC Devil May Cry instead of immediately going for DMC5 in light of 4's sales.

Yeah, it was.

Wait, so what exactly are you getting at here? I'm sorry, sometimes I need these things spelled out for me.

Still, my point stands. Even if the Special Edition sells like crazy, the money people spent on the SE would be on that, not a future title, because we have no proof that the title even exists yet. If Capcom wants to make DMC5 then they can go for it, but they're staking it on false hope and holding the series ransom. The Darkstalkers and Megaman fandoms say hello.

So arrrrr we getting a DMC 5 or not is the question? Better yet, was DmC because Capcom was essentially running low on ideas for DMC?
Demi-fiend

I'm not going to argue. But if Capcom sees that the fans will buy it anyway, then they're going to do whatever they want, regardless of our opinions.
Demi-fiend
Demi-fiend
Yes to both.

We arrrr getting a DMC5, and Capcom arrr running out of ideas since DMC4.

To be honest I thought they were running out of ideas since before DMC4. Three out of four games in the series are "Human wants demonic power/Sparda's power, Dante (or someone else) has to go stop them, and also Sparda did something totally related to this plot 2000 years ago which Dante (or someone else) has to more or less emulate".

I do agree @Morgan, to an extent. Those who buy the game should only really buy it because they want it, not to support this assumption that buying it will keep DMC going. That's Capcom's job, not ours. But @Vergilius you think we should pay for the game to 'prove a point', I'm assuming you mean to show Capcom that yes we are still interested in the franchise.
Demi-fiend
Demi-fiend
Yeah, that's what I meant. To show Capcrap that we're still interested.

Also, I agree with the DMC franchise always running low on ideas. DMC1 wasn't exactly Sands of Time when it came to character-building and chemistry...

You're probably right, Morgan. Since most don't really hold DMC's story in high regards.

It's just that... I hate it when fans say they'll support a project, but never end up dong so.

This is why we can't have nice things.

One more thing. I'm also a DmCDE fan. Just wanted to clear that up. Sorry about spamming your profile.

"If a company asks for "donations" more than three times on a single project [...] then yes, stop contributing funds and let them figure it out on their own."

That's the thing. People bought DMC4, then boycotted DmC:DMC in favor of DMC HD. Three times, fans showed that they love the original series. Now Capcom wants people to buy DMC4 SE to support DMC5? The fans have done enough. Capcom needs to sort itself out.

(Personally after DMC4 I just stuck with the reboot. I'd actually much rather have a DmC2. The classic series is a clusterf**k.)
Demi-fiend

Well... like I said in the thread, you can boycott and convince others to boycott as well. While I want a DMC5, I won't stop anyone who doesn't want to buy DMC4SE.
Demi-fiend

However, I also said that you shouldn't expect a risky product if you don't want to back it. DMC5 is risky. Buying DMC4SE is the only way to get, whether we like it or not.

If you can live without DMC4SE, then you can live without a DMC5. Clients can't have it both ways.

You're right though. Capcom needs to sort itself out or go under already. I also agree that the Classic series is all sorts of effed up. I would also prefer a DmC2 over a DMC5.

But... I'm ready to give up both if a better series (like Darksiders) comes along with another sequel.

I'm not saying Darksiders is objectively better, I'm just saying that I prefer it over Classic DMC.
