It is! Manga is still canon, DMC1 novel is not.

It's even more canon than UMvsC3 profile.If you search for Trinity of fates here in the forum, you'll find a thread I did with a translation of a official book where V's motivations are explained by Capcom.

It's a shame that people couldn't stop bickering and ultimately ruining other people's topics. It's something that has always annoyed me since I first started here and still does. The main problem I have with it is that it usually discourages people when it comes to making new threads.
