I've been rewatching the show. When available, I like to watch anime in multiple other languages, see what they sound like or how they did things differently. Something occurred to me. The director, who by the way is not the creator of DMC, (ever wonder if mistakes like that are intentional? They do look a bit surprised here) got to see and read materials that others outside of Capcom have not so he knows more than anyone else what's what. Well, there's always been a bit of a mystery, intentionally so, of Lady and Arkham's names. It was revealed once that Lady's full name is Mary Ann but there was always the question if Arkham was his first or last name. Well, now we know. With that in mind, it struck that maybe that's not the only tid bit of lore sprinkled in there. Maybe there's more here or on the incoming second season. Then it occured to me that if there was, in fact, more, the director might just have decided to change it to fit his narrative so I'd probably never know, anyway. He says he didn't change it at all but...

By the way, Arkham's first name is John.

Edit- It seems like there's been a boost in sales since the anime. Well, timed sale and advertisement. Worked then, I guess.

Looks like someone saw The Returner.

You think they choose Batman’s voice in this series because of this reference and dose that mean DMC is in DC now instead of Marvel?
Both Arkham's are reference to Lovecraft but I don't think the connection was lost on anyone. Also, years ago, Capcom made a deal to make some comics based on their properties with DC. DMC was one of them.

I mentioned that DMC sales were up but it seems DMC was also top 3 on netflix and the franchise bundle was #9 on Steam's top 10. They've gone down but they got the spike for the week. Still a good deal.

I always get confused because of Capcom vs Marvel
You know, maybe that's why the deal never came to fruition. Capcom has a long standing relationship with Marvel, even if it is only through the video games. Going to a competitor might not be appropriate. You never know with these things.

Ya imagine them going the same route with Ultraman Marvel lol

Well while it is having many different opinions and takes on it, at least it is gaining interest in the games and franchise in general. It is even giving this place a little spark of life.

So good or bad, hopefully it leads to more mainline releases through games or other media.

I'm hoping I'm wrong but this whole thing has me wondering if Capcom is just engaging interest in DMC. They did the same when 4's SE went on sale. They wanted to see if there really was interest in the OG games and not just internet talk, which carries no weight, when you get down to it. When those games went on sale and they saw the numbers was when they started development on 5, Itsuno wanted to work on a DmC2 but became a non-starter, what, with NT being bought by MS. Now they pull the anime and have a sale, a very successful one, it seems. Either they're going to announce another game or they're finally going to start development. Really hoping for the former.

Edit
I don't know who this guy is but this is in bad form.

If they do make a 6 what would it be about?

I’m tired of these Damn directors ruining my franchises just to stroke their ego

That's the question. Itsuno wanted to part with Dante and Vergil with 5 but Dante's too popular. Making DMC a multicharacter per game franchise might not be good for its health. Funny thing, in the original DMC, Kamiya wanted to have a playable Trish section. He also wanted a playable Baldur in Bayo2. Still. I don't think the game should force in more and more characters. I'd rather have one lead.
