The sword is a lot bigger than Yamato, though. And as evidenced by his performance with Force Edge, he's not exactly used to heavier swords. He even seems to have trouble swinging his Zweihander in DMC1.

Yeah. His potential is long since passed. He's not an important character like many people make him out to be. Just because he is the other son of Sparda does NOT mean he's as important as the FIRST son of Sparda we saw.
Now that you say it, he does seem a lot like Vergil. I didn't like Vergil much, though...
