Yep. And with the proper sprite sheets and editing skills, one can create comics easily.
Yeah, but I wouldn't call them low grade. I prefer games with sprites than 3D games, but that's because I grew up on sprites.
Anyways, sprite comics are when you take sprites from video games and use them to create comics.
