  It is called charging up an attack. Try controlling three characters at the same time without any gambits. That'll make you so filled with planning and tactics that maybe you can't handle it. D:
  
  Then Crisis Core is for you. No waiting, Zack does the attack immediatly.

  Try play FFXII. There is no turn by turn in that one. Nor is it in Crisis Core.
