Pub work might be worth a go? Sometimes just going into local shops and asking if they could use an extra pair of hands might work. Not all of them advertise and since come September most students will be stopping their summer jobs, you might get a chance - at least until the student loan runs out and they're living off beans :lol:

Well that sucks. Yeesh...unless you want to be an Avon lady, I guess options really are limited. Have you tried whoring yourself out in the local paper yet? I used to clean for my college tutor...she paid well but I never want to see another floor-to-ceiling window again :lol:

What do your parents think? Or are they not particularly bothered? (mine were just like "get a job or get out" :lol

I hear you - I don't think I've had a paying job since 2000...just scraped by, mostly. Trying to find work to leave to find work to leave - I know what you mean.

Is temping an option at all? Just to rake in some cash to help save? And can you apply for Working Tax Credit? Could help...

Ugh - sorry for late response. Thought I'd better wait til I got home from my sister's. Questioning life as we know it, eh? Been there many times, so I know how you feel. Are you living at home or in your own space? Is it possible to just up sticks and rent out somewhere completely different and do some temping while you fire off more and more CV's? And what work do you want, anyway?

To cheer you up, my sister decided two days before the party to scream, throw things around the kitchen and all but throw herself on the floor in a fit of rage. Whilst my kids were there. And the reason? "dust in the washing machine". I kid you not.

Nearly cancelled her stupid party after that...which went AMAZINGLY well, by the way. Quite shocked I managed to pull it off :lol:

It's got a good selection of English voice actors too.

Yeah, my sister is superwoman and I'm the moron :lol: I get married, I get a terse email from my father saying "well, I suppose you're going to do it anyway". My sister gets married? He flies out to ITALY to give her away at her uber-expensive wedding. I have my first child, it's "you've ruined your life". And my sister gets money, toys, clothes and a gushing speech about how proud everyone is. Can't win :lol:

My sister also has a rather selective (and imaginative) memory - particularly when it comes to our childhood. Apparently she all but single-handedly raised me - pretty sure I'd remember the TOTAL absence of my own parents, but no I was "too young" to know. What, by 2 years? I'm younger but not stupid... Still, I guess if it is true then it's all her fault I'm an under-achieving waste of space :lol:

Seriously, my sister is getting all bitchy because I've had two kids, a marriage and a house before her (she's the eldest by 2 years, never comes second for anything and BY HELL is she angry at me for "outdoing" her ) - and then when I said Steve and I are planning for more kids, she had a tantrum and said we weren't allowed because it's not fair.

It's not like I'm buying sweets and not sharing with her :lol:
