So how do you control which way your target explodes? it either shoots the demon forward or behind you so I'm wondering can you control which way it shoots.

It all depends on where the enemy is facing.
If the enemy is facing you, it will fly backwards.
However if it's facing away from you, with it's back turned towards you, it will fly towards you.

Seriously, the kablooey is like my least favorite weapon of the game. Other than the fact that it is called 'kablooey' I only use it againts the fat guys (don't remember the actual demon name lol) when they're invincible so you can't pull em down
Well... I wouldn't say that. But I will say that Lucifer has much more "flare" than Kablooey. It's a very creative weapon. It also has a much more varied move set since it is after all a primary weapon and not a secondary weapon like Kablooey is. Honestly, I love using Lucifer in DMC4. It's ridiculously fun and it looks awesome. Kablooey is just kinda... boring.
The fat demons are the Tyrants. I'd suggest the E&I due to their fire rate. So after demon evading its charge attack just spam square to its back and go for a Trinity Smash.
