Dante's Downfall

So what do you think it would be like if Dante went to hell like Vergil did?
I don't really have a theory on this, but a friend of mine thinks it would be good idea to have Dante struggle
during every mission and come out on top.

As opposed to Vergil who just gave in.

That is...so very wrong >.>

He did in fact die, and was in his own personal Hell, but he was also climbing his way out while severing emotional and familial ties. Letting go was what allowed him to recover for being stabbed in his damn heart >.<

Not sure if its completely wrong, its a plausible theory, I always thought it was a hallucination like a dying dream that we were playing in Downfall, but then again he was fighting for what little humanity he had left sooo....
 
All I gotta say is Eva was there and she told him it's too late for her but, he can still save himself.

That's the weird part of Downfall. All of the other characters who spoke to Vergil taunted and teased him about his worst fears, but Eva tried to talk sense to him and tell him she loved him, and then Vergil rejects her. If Eva was a figment of Vergil's imagination, then she would be taunting him about loving Dante most.

Angles and Demons were at war and Eva willingly got Into a relationship and had a child with one of the most powerful demons in existence.
Who also happened to be Mundus' s right hand man.
I don't They would have let her back into heaven after that.

Not quite right.

The thing about Dante in that world was apparently set up by Vergil. According to the comic it's a part of Limbo that Vergil cleared of demons. I think it's was a dimension that held personal ties to the twins.

I don't know if that was a literal personal hell or a creation of his subconscious, thus making it 'not real,' but it certainly was real to Vergil. However it went down I'm pretty sure it wasn't the work of the amulet but rather his own volition.

It didn't seem like Vergil was sucked into Limbo in the game. He just fainted and all of a sudden woke in a blue Limbo world where he had his sort of evil subconscious self or "hallow" Vergil, and I'm guessing "hallow" Dante wich was there to hold Vergil back. But then Vergil woke up with a sudden intense feeling of hatred, and it led to him leading the demonic army because... you know...

Vergil: :devil: I just woke up from some crazy inception and I feel motivated! I dont know why I should be so brave standing infront of one million demons with a bleeding hole through my chest, but screw me! Now I rule you demons because I'm the son of Sparda! No exceptions!
demons:... Yes, sir!

And if Dante for some reason went into a hell-like Limbo, he wouldn't of gained anything in return, since he dosn't have anythings holding him back, really. And Hallow Dante dosn't seem like the one to want to make him power hungry or somthing bad. I doubt Dante wants anything to do with controlling demons after the "rule" issue with Vergil.

Yeah. The Dante and Kat that Vergil encountered in Downfall were "figments" made by Hollow Vergil to get him to sever emotional and familial ties. Eva...for all intents and purposes...was in Hell, as it would seem, and Vergil was able to encounter her because...I dunno? Angelic/Nephilim/familial bonds?

The overall idea of Vergil's Downfall was Vergil on the verge of dying, pretty much dead, and starting to sink into Hell. His darker side began to come out while Vergil questioned himself, and in the end managed to get Vergil to tap into a lot of power, which saved him from death.

If you're looking at it like more of a figure of speech, then Dante already went to hell - his life up to DmC was a living hell, one could say.
He struggeled through torture, mentally and physically, lived a life without love or trust, not even knowing who or what he really is, and simply fought for survival because dying would have been doing the demons a favor.
The outcome was a broken and self-destructive young man with trust issues, who seeked as much pleasure as he could, for as long as he could because his life could end any minute. Makes you wonder what it had done to him if it hadn't been for Vergil and Kat to drag him out.

I'm thinking anti hero. He'd see someone in trouble and do absolutely nothing for them. He wouldn't be as strong as he is now though. He would, however, be insanely skilled with Rebellion. I think that's why they made Dark Dante a skin.

Right there on the subject of the Dante and Kat "figments" that Hallow Vergil made... could someone please explain why Kat and Eva are the only ones who don't look pale or corrupt like Hallow Dante and Vergil? Kat and Eva were both things that held Vergil back and yet they look perfectly normal (and colorful).

Is there an actual explanation for that? Besides Kat and Eva might look weird?
