Itsuno mentions Devil May Cry 5 in interview

Don't Let the Fall of America be Your Fall
DMC5 is the only thing that can happen and end well, yes you're right, thanks to DmC, the HD collection sold better and DMC5 is in massive demand, come to think of it, the same thing could be said with MGR for the Metal Gear franchise(it was MGR that got me into Metal Gear after all).
A few weeks ago, I would have disagreed with you on Capcoms stupidity, but since they seem to be rethinking their sales expectations for Dead Rising 3, they seem to be getting some brains.

Yeah, but I don't trust Capcom all that much. Every time they seem to be growing a brain, they do something to make it shrink again.

I can swear the biggest audience for MGR were just the butthurt fanatical DMC fans who just out of spite chose that game because P* and all the other b!tching that has still not settled down.

Being a massive Metal Gear fan and deeply involved in that community for years you can trust me that the typical reaction to MGR from most Metal Gear fans just ranged from "Forget this game. This isn't Metal Gear." to just not really giving a sh!t about it at all. Especially since Metal Gear Solid V details were surfacing.

And overall still, Metal Gear Fruit Ninja was just aight. Wasn't terrible but neither was it some action game masterpiece. It was a Ninja Gaiden clone with Metal Gear wallpaper. If it was really this MGR vs. DmC battle then I'd score them about even. DmC's got cooler levels and sh!t though. ooooooooo colorful :O

P.S.: DMC 4 is still a terrible game no matter what anyone says. You have a crappy opinion.

one thing that I hold MGR over DmC is the bosses. MGR had way better bosses that were not only (a bit) challenging, but the scale of these bosses were quite large. DmC had interesting bosses of course, but I gotta give bosses to MGR.

woah, woah, woah, Itsuno does not speak english. This could be a translation error. He would have probably said a next devil may cry and doubt he would have said 5.
This is likely the case, but being jerked around is just too much fun :D... In any case the chances we will see a new Devil May Cry, of any caliber anytime soon, are slim I think. DMC4 while a bit incomplete still took 3 years to develop if I'm not mistaken. If DMC5 just happens to fall into fruition, I think we'd have a new gen game on our hands. PS3 is still alive and kicking but this opportunity would likely rise the sales pitch thanks to the combination of DmC's negative press and hype of the new PS4 and Xbone. This bothers me a bit though. If they just make a new DMC title to draw in dough and not really put their hearts into it, then it would be a let down in most cases and I'd probably prefer if they left it alone (though I know for a fact the gameplay will be polished and nice.)

If DmC really did put DMC back in the dumps, then there wouldn't be the possible DMC5 coming out.

Not only that, but because of DmC, the series has more fans invested into the series in general. Do you know how many copies of the HD collection has sold thanks to DmC weither for positive or negative reasons? Plus, the original series itself has gained more attention because of the reboot. If it was any other DMC game, it would've just been looked at by most other gamers as "same old, same old" like Sengoku Basara or Street Fighter.

Now that the reboots said and done, and they decide to go back to the original series, DMC5 will ride on DmC's controversy along with it's popularity among critics and other new gamers and get more attention from people.

Obvious business planning that I don't think capcom would be stupid enough not to take advantage of.

Obviously, I'll miss DmC and would love a DmC2, but unlike the original fanbase and their explosion to the reboot back in 2010, I'm not gonna bitch about it. I'll take it as such and get over it.

Street Fighter is actually changing alot in every title that comes, 3S is completely different from IV, for example. The Alpha series are another thing that looks more than Marvel than SF itself, changes a lot of things from the fundamentals estabilished in SF2. I understand why you used SF as an example because on a superficial level it looks roughly the same thing (mainly because they keep reusing their characters and all that), but when it comes to gameplay, it was a pretty bad example, SF is always trying new things (and sometimes even ****ing people off, just google the controversy about Red Focus an Double Ultra in the Ultra SFIV version that's coming out in 2014).

As much as people hates Capcom, they generally do a good job when it comes to implement new things without screwing up the general idea of their games. The only Capcom game i can remember that really became stagnant was the X series from Megaman; it had very basic gimmicks changing from game to game, aside from some design gimmicks, it was almost the same game when talking about the whole system.

I'm doubting another Devil May Cry coming out any time soon as well. Wasn't it said Capcom cancelled a bunch of stuff, and can't even put in the man power for a Street Fighter game? I'd say we have wait of a year or two for now at least, at least until there's news on Resident Evil first since that's one of their main projects at the moment o.o

That may be the case, but from the outside looking in, every SF game looks and feels exactly the same. Same moves, same animation of attacks, same thing over and over again with a few small things added and a few new characters. I use this as an example for gamers looking at DMC if Capcom had made a DMC5 instead of DmC; it would've been treated like "same old DMC game" and critics would speak o fit as such. However DmC was a big change and created so much attention that it made the series the talk of the game community again.

To be honest, If a Devil May Cry 5 actually does happen. I'm really hoping that it possibly fills some of the things missing from 4, It was sooo unfinished.
Not likely. Capcom thought that they did a pretty good job explaining Nero's origin but when they found out they didn't they were rather happy about it. I get the impression that if they proceed they will run with the notion that they explained Nero and not try to explain further.

It was explained in their opinion????? They didn't explain ****, other than he "Has inherited Sparda's power". Yeah, that's nice, now wtf is his relation to Sparda Capcom? Oh wait, you didn't explain that, along with almost everything else...

Wasn't it said somewhere on the games continuing the story with Nero or was that just a rumor going around at the time? I can't remember where I heard it T.T

Need I remind you people the first time "DmC" was mentioned was when Keji Inafuane said that he wanted "DMC5" to have more of a western touch.

While I'm at it, how many times has Half Life 2 episode 3 been announced.

AND how many times has Ghost Busters 3 been reassured that it's in the making

And How many times has a "Shared Universe" been rumored between FOX, MARVEL, AND SONY? (Until Joss Whedon debunked the whole ****ing thing, and even then the rumors continued)

Keep saying it all you want, that doesn't mean Gordon Freeman will return, it doesn't mean that we'll see the ongoing battle between good and marshmallows again, it doesn't mean we'll see Deadpool VS Thanos on the big screen, and this doesn't mean we are getting DMC5

In fact , it sounded more like Itsuno-san was just announcing that he would LIKE to make those, not that he WAS making those

i think it was a educated guess since people thought the reason why DMC4 introduced Nero was to have him take over the franchise from Dante.

Sidebar- the main roadblock for Nero was that they did a game with young dante so they made his role as the freshfaced rookie hunter superflous since you could have told easier stories with young dante.

easier way would just have him show up as dante's kid who teams up with lucia to figure out what happened to Dante. End of the game has Dante ask Nero what he been up to.

Bam, DMC4 hook right there.

just saying :p. It could have worked.

they either wanted to have a plot thread to set up sequels or they just didnt decide on what his origin exactly was.

capcom. smh

Thank the lord Im not the only one who saw that this is just his wishlist rather than games in the can.

if it is to be the next DMC, then i hope that it is the last. the series has gone through so many changes, i just hope it dies in peace while its still good. i really would like it if dante would die. not even that, but just something to END the sparda family drama story.

It could still go on just look at metal gear...each installation of it is a prequel and a sequel... With DMC i could see them cover a certain part of the story in each game because covering everything in one game will make no sense, because it will be jumping from topic to topic and the story would be inconsistent. I understand that there is not much to change in the gameplay aspect as DMC 4 basically mastered the combat system but there is more to add to it. Hell they added Nero to the mix why not add new characters that don't have a connection to sparda. That is why I believe a female protagonist would suit it more. but that is just my opinion, besides that I wouldn't want DMC to end with just one game, but yet I wouldn't want 5 more to of them to come out. But mainly Everyone just wants to see Dante come back, no?

I'd be really happy to have a DMC5. Honestly, it's good that it's still being remembered by people like Itsuno. I really hope it does mean there will be something in the works, maybe not now, but a few years down the road. I really want Dante's story continued or finished.

Me see Capcom stopping at DMC6 but that doesn't mean we'll only get like 2 more DMC games. Spin-offs, side games, etc like a fighting game spin-off like what they did for Sengoku Basara and MegaMan, a handheld side game, remakes, a Sparda game, a multiplayer like MMO for consoles/handhelds though.
