Shouldn't we DMC fans be grateful about DmC instead of acting like it was something unwanted?

Right you are, Meg. ^_^

Only that example is not of somebody trashing DmC. From what I can read, it's actually somebody trashing the new Dante, not the game itself. Unless of course you do some intense reading between the lines, or if he's trashing the game in his comment. However, he is not, as this is what he said: ''I generally don't like remakes, because the devs always change things i love about the game.'' That's not trashing, that's just disliking the idea of reboots.

Problem is, everyone that tells you the story in DMC had potential for more...is not a real DMC(Story)fan, they are DMC(gameplay) fans. People that don't really CARE about the story, as long as they have cool combos. They are fine with the most stupid excuse for Dante coming back to do badass stuff

Then there's the people that actually think Bayonetta is a deep cool charater that represents women accurately...we don't speak to them

Combos in DmC can improve with some japanese help...the story in DMC can't be saved...it's dead Jim and it's been dead since DMC2

Dude.
I'm a DMC fan through and through. I'm a writer. DMC's story still has a mass of potential. I care more for the story than the gameplay. Just thought I'd come in and kablooey the sheit out of your theory.

> So I can't say DMC4's plotholes were the reason for the reboot (DmC).
No DMC 4's plotholes wasn't the reason the whole series was highly inconsistent and DMC 4 introduced new chararacters and jumbled up the mess and capcom probably had no clue on where to take the game next.

Would it take place before DMC 2 ? or would it take place after DMC 2 ?? eitherway it has to somehow go along with DMC 2 and that's impossible.

Continuing the story any further was implausible and reboot was an easyfix for everything along with westernization.

>Capcom could have made a DMC game that went on with Nero and gave some closure to the story of Dante, making Nero the next Sparda, perhaps letting him have children himself. The series would be coming full circle

So then it would have to take place before DMC 2 ? how long can they keep themselves from reaching to DMC 2 ? eitherway i'm pretty sure that's why they made DMC 4 an interquel in the first place.

>all of the plotholes in DMC4 have already been fixed on this forum
Remember this is a "Series" and there were 3 more games before this and it doesn't really help the situation of being a coherent series in terms of story it just builds upon it.

I can still see people saying "DmC was the NOT the game i wanted" well sure i didn't want it either but that was probably the game we were going to get anyway being bitter about it is just pointless as if there was possiblity of DMC 5 in fact i wonder what would have been people's reactions if DMC 4 was never made and instead DmC was made.

>Well, fair enough. However, I can't remember any DMC game that had a truly excellent plot
Well as an interquel it suffers from continuity problems and character inconsistencies and DMC was never really good at romantic moments...
making it the central theme of the game is a bad bad idea.
>considering the DMC series has never had a consistent story
Now you're getting to the point ! that's why reboot was inevitable that is why reboots are done to fix the story.

How did DMC4 ''jumble up the mess'' when it simply had a new plot, as every DMC game has had? The series had been inconsistent up to DMC3, so I don't see why DMC4 would suddenly tip the scales. If they've simply run out of ideas, they should stop making Devil May Cry games, right? No sense in going on with a project if they have no idea what they want to do in the future. Maybe they were too stubborn in continuing the series after DMC2.

Would it take place before DMC 2 ? or would it take place after DMC 2 ?? eitherway it has to somehow go along with DMC 2 and that's impossible.

Not necessarily; it could be a new plot again, or one that tells of how Nero becomes like a modern-day Sparda. It seemed to be going in that direction in DMC4, anyway, so why they decided to stop making DMC games is a mystery to me.

Continuing the story any further was implausible and reboot was an easyfix for everything along with westernization.

But if they don't have any ideas left like I argued two lines above this one, how will they continue the new series (DmC)?

They haven't acknowledged DMC2 as a Devil May Cry game, so I don't see why they couldn't make a game that takes place around that time. It doesn't have to be intertwined with the plot of DMC2.

Well, that's not necessarily a bad thing. I think what they need to do is make one last DMC game that goes on with Nero and ends his story. That way, DMC does come full circle: a new Sparda has arisen, perhaps new twin demons will be born, and Sparda's legacy will continue. Nobody really cares about what happens in DMC2, anyway; it's like a side story.

DmC2 can be developed, I have no problem with that. It's just that DMC needs to bring some closure, with DMC5.

>Well, fair enough. However, I can't remember any DMC game that had a truly excellent plot

True in some ways. However, most, if not all of the issues can be fixed. Besides, if continuity problems were the issue, DMC should have been rebooted after DMC3, considering Vergil was suddenly alive even though he had been missing since he was eight.

>considering the DMC series has never had a consistent story
Now you're getting to the point ! that's why reboot was inevitable that is why reboots are done to fix the story.

But Capcom has never seemed interested in rebooting the series for the sake of creating a consistent story that goes from point A to B without detours. If they were, wouldn't they have done it after DMC2? DMC2 seemed to have no connection to DMC1 either, really. The thing is, even though the series has its share of issues, most if not all of them can be fixed, and the Nero story is pretty interesting. It's interesting enough to just make one last game and end the DMC story, the story of Sparda getting an heir (Dante) as well as Dante's successor/emulator (Nero).

(my views are marked green, and my previous statements are bolded).

DmC and DMC why can't we have both?
I feel like this "series" is Crampcom's own mistake too...!

EDIT:
Don't you wanna add that DMC3 retconned DMC1 as you said before in your previous posts?
I think DMC3 should have been the reboot, I wouldn't mind a story of crappy teen Dante becoming serious DMC1 Dante and preteding DMC2 never happened...

But Nope, Inuyasha ripoff with wooooing and then DMC4 completely ignoring DMC1 Dante's attitude (which was AWESOME) there was no character growth, not even a regression from 3>1>4...its...just...UGH

I'm sorry, is that meant to count against me or something?

Back on topic:
How are DMC fans meant to be grateful for DmC? Shouldn't DmC fans be thankful for DMC instead? You know, considering that if it weren't for DMC, there'd be no DmC....ugh. Wait. What am I even doing here?
Never mind. I asked not to be quoted so, Fran, you're going on my ignore list. Now you can quote me to your heart's content. Cheers.
