I don't like the Yamato in DmC

The design on the handle seems like a common thing. But I definitely wouldn't have minded the handgaurd being a bit more defined like those in the pictures above.
That's the thing. It's just a katana sword and for it to be considered one then they usually have pretty much the same design. Hearing people trying to spike up a reason why DMC's Yamato is somehow better than DmC's is weird. They are pretty much the same exact goddamn thing. I'm only really noticing the lack of yellow ribbon and if that's a deal breaker I'd like them realize how stupid that sounds.

I came here to laugh at you.
It doesn't feel like a katana at all.
That yellow thingy is the only difference. I don't get OP's post.
Looking at the original design, you can clearly see that the shape of the curve is better, the handle looks less generic and the scabbard has a metal ornament at the end, aside from the "yellow thingy" (sageo). It has a more unique feel than the DmC one, that looks a bit "cheap", something I don't expect from a legendary sword.

Yep, I don't like it.

Detail wise OY wins easily. Even one of the metal ornament has detail to it (the one near the guard, not ribbon one): CLICK PICTURE FOR BIGGER PICTURE!

Yo, wake up bro. You're not making any sense. The hell does this even mean? How is a katana suppose to feel according to you in a video game? DMC 3 did feel like a katana?

The shape of the sword (the curve), the edge at the end and the sound effects in-game. Aside from that, I don't really like the shorter lenght and I don't know if it's just me, but the steel (Tamagahane) used to craft it looks a bit weird compared to others models I seen before (it may be part of the art style, not sure). Don't know about DMC3 though, have some time without playing the game.

Do you argue physics for the Buster Sword too with made up "logic"?

Dude, I didn't pick up my understanding of these weapons from watching anime. I actually know a thing or two about how they function and their history because I research this stuff for fun. If you think that the cosmetics and very very minor differences to the design actually translates to how the sword fictionally functions then you are achieving a new level of fanboy idiocy and I suggest you stop before you drift too far in to the deep dark waters.

Beer and big tits all around! XD
well DmC is a more modern style weapons, while dmc had a sort of old school weapons

But even in a modern setting Katana's blades don't look so...dented.

I'm trying to see your point but only if I can tell what the differences actually are. Are you just trying to mess with me Brazillican?

I just don't like how the yamato looks in DmC. I like the way Vergil uses it in Downfall, but I don't like the all around design of it.

But there's also the blades. I'm a katana freak and I usually pay very close attention to katanas. And Vergil's just seem like there was no real soul put into making it. There was no real heart mind or body that was poured into making the blade, and that's why I just don't have a fondness for it.

The shape of the curve, the steel and the edge aren't cosmetic, they affect the function of the sword. I'm just telling you, the sword feels different from an average katana, even if DmC Vergil use something similar to the iaido style like DMC Vergil. I don't really see what's the big deal about fictionl though, some developers actually do good research about weapons and combat, it's secondary, but it's a really good detail.

This thread is about the design of the weapon though, I delaired a bit.

DMC3's yamato looked sharper. Because the hamon (tempered line) was more distinguished and gave that look of if you touch it lightly, it'll cut your hand off completely. And then the Boshi (final curve) was curved into a pretty sharp point.

If you think the original blade somehow functioned better than please I beg you think about how stupid you sound. These are fictional weapons and NOTHING they do translates to how they actually function because it is a VIDEO GAME. One aspect being how hack n slash games act like swords are blunt sticks. You have any idea how sharp a katana is? I'm pretty sure even cutting up these demons we would see a bit of hacking being done. I also don't expect anyone in real life would actually wield a sword like Rebellion in that fashion.

You see what happens when you try to even debate how things are suppose to be when it comes to sh!t like this? You just don't question it at all because it's not suppose to be realistic. But I guarantee you will come back with yet another comment trying to somehow "prove" the original DMC Yamato is somehow the better sword with stuff you'll just pull out of your ass because you simply don't want to admit that you just prefer it because it's DMC's version and not DmC.

I don't care if you say you like DMC's version better just don't do stuff like this. You're making yourself look like an idiot and going beyond just the biased delusional fanboy.

Did you read what I said? Do you have problems with people that disagree with you? I was going to reply you, but you can't expect good things from a discussion if the other part is using ad hominem and name-calling.

I'm out. I swear there is no hope for some of these people here. Before I break my chilled composure and start seeing red going Hulk on a few of you I need to break away from this crap. I suggest certain people here shouldn't even bother to talk to me. I think you know who you are.

Exactly. I can see why you don't like DmC's version. It's just because you like the older look better and that's fine. It's just the made up "logic" and reasoning I'm seeing from some people to try and somehow "prove" their opinion is somehow worth more than just that. They are both still just katana swords that also never functioned how they really would because they are video game weapons meant to perform feats that can never be done.

Why is this even being debated is beyond me. I swear. I can't wait for school to start up again because man I am having a little too much free time at the moment.

Wah wah!!! Baby pharoah wants milk! Someone quick fetch him a nipple.

Now in all serious aren't you making a big deal out of nothing your letting people who are just talking about swords and why they prefer one sword over the other actually bother you.

I swear there is no hope for you too.

Geez if you want to leave so badly leave. Many others have done it.
