Why did Eva in Downfall not have wings?

Martius

SSSmokin!
Its easy. Game was going to be prequel at first, so Eva could not have wings as human. Adding good looking wings or making new art with wings is probably easier than adding that to in game model. On that first painting that wings could be part of some stone statute behind Eva.

Eva Painting with wings
Here she doesn't have wings

Here she has wings

On wall is wings

Now halo + wings

But in downfall she has no wings in cinematic cutscenes.

So what's going on? Has she lost her wings and halo because she fell in love with a demon?

Or was this a slipup?
or is it intended that angels arent going to have wings in this story?
Symbolism I think.

That or both Sparda and Eva were in human forms when they abandoned their kind to live in the human world. Sparda's drawings always depict him with horns, but in the painting and photograph at the mansion you don't see any on his head, same going for Eva.

Sort of like how Bob takes on a human film, they do the same to blend in amongst other humans. But maybe there were times where showed their true forms.

I don't remember her having a halo? But I do remember the wings. She has them in the image of Mundus ripping out her heart and the image of giving the necklace to Dante, but in another image where she is standing with Sparda and the twins she doesn't have them.
I always figured she could hide them in some way, seeing as they were trying to live in the human world under disguise.Like how Sparda doesn't look full demon, then Eva doesn't look full angel. It wouldn't be in their best interests to walk around with angel wings and devil horns.

Maybe she had them but found a way to hide them (angelic powers or something like that) when she started living amongst humans. Same with Sparda's horns.
After all, we see demons changing their appearance to look like humans,so why couldn't Eva and Sparda do the same?

Or maybe the story is just kinda inconsistent?
It's possible for it to have flaws, ya know. :p

On a more serious note, it would be safe to assume she's just in her human form but they don't mention this anywhere as far as I'm aware.
I would just go with the 'she's hiding them' thing.

im not sure about this but since we dont even know why even is in downfall we can't say for sure

interesting side note this is a very small and easily fixed pothole should we not worry about something else?

Exactly. We don't know why she is there or even if it is the real Eva, considering both Kat and Dante were dark creations sent to taunt Vergil.

Besides, I don't think she had wings duing that scene where she communicates to Dante about getting his powers. So I'm going with that she can hide her wings somehow.

As seen in the flashbacks, both Eva and Sparda are able to take on human guises. Hence the inconsistency of wings and no wings. I believe she has no wings in Vergil's Downfall, because when the twins grew up, Eva was in her human guise and not in her angelic one which is the Eva Vergil remembers. The same with Sparda's horns.

Really people, f#cking really?

Any time they have wings it's a painting or graffiti - artistic liberties. I'm sure Mundus' head wasn't trisected, and Sparda didn't have tentacles either. Then we have the story paintings that depict cherubs gasping and crying, which are all based on centuries-old art styles, they weren't literal depictions of events, and there were no cherubs hanging out with the family, either. Then there's the whole human form thing.

And IncarnatedDemon, seriously dude? Do you just sit around and look for sh!t to rag on about with this game and waste people's time, filling up this side of the forum with bullshit? "Hay gaiz! I found an inconsistency!" No you didn't, and no one really gives sh!t except for the same group of people who do little else in this side of the forum but antagonize

You seem to be in a pretty bad mood.

I actually think that this could constitute material for an eventual DmC2 story, or at least, an element, if angels are brought on stage...
After all, demons punished them by, well, killing them, it would be strange that angels accepted Eva's relationship peacefully...

I'm sure angels aren't as nice as the usual image of them. I think there was an interview somewhere saying angels in DmC weren't nice, but nothing was seen of that.

I'm sure angels would have done something if they knew Eva wanted to be with a demon. They wouldn't just let her do that without at least talking to her.
Something vicious angels could do is tear off Eva's wings...maybe thinking she doesn't deserve them for loving a demon.

I thought as punishment, but I like that better :3

I thought of Soul Reaver there... don't know why...

If I'm honest, I don't remember that interview.
But I can imagine that might've happened to Eva.

Like Kain and Raziel! That would be really vicious. Raziel had his wings taken off in front of his vampire brothers, so to make it worse for Eva, she could have her wings taken in front of other angels that she knew. Public shame and humiliation is really brutal, so that sort of punishment would fit the 'crime' of being with a demon.
