Over 2 years ago, the first look at the new Devil May Cry was revealed at TGS 2010 and sparked all of the controversy. Lets look back and discuss it shall we? :)

Since DmC is finally out (and I've completed it), I watched the original trailer to see things that have changed. When I suddenly saw something interesting at 1:22:

The graffiti on the wall looked familiar:

Its one of the concept art for the enemy 'Rage' found in the in-game gallery (thanks to Erian1Mortal for ripping the image from the game ;)).

So I decided to watch it again for any other things. But all I could notice was the actions that Dante preforms are very similar to what you can do in the final product.

Limbo- Silver Sacks Tower
Mundus' headquarters in the game. I remember theories going around saying they were wings to Mundus' true form. Good times..

Angel Boost
We see Dante preforming the Angel boost twice in the trailer. One after he's shot up the demons at the beginning:

At the end when he drops of the building he kicks off the wall and goes into the Angel boost pose:

And finally, the white hair patch:

Which i'm sure you all know, turns fully white by the end of the game. Well that's all I have at the moment. If anyone notices anything else be sure to point it out :).

Actually the game was better in my opinion when the TGS2010 trailer was released.

Everything was faster,so thats one problem fixed, animations were fluent. donte wouldn't pause between every move.

and the scythe's sound was more fitting.

It was a rendered cutscene.

Oh, so I am not the only one to dislike the scythe's sound!

To me that trailer seemed more promising than the game turned out to be. I enjoy playing DmC but what's shown in the video is, in my opinion, more 'true' to the series.

By the way, I feel like an old fart wondering how fast time passes by. I can't believe this trailer was released back in 2010.

I remember when there were theories about the guy you play as was someone 'who thinks he's Dante' was a neat idea IMO.
Agreed. I still think that this game should've been nothing but a spin-off. just like Megaman Battlenetwork.

Want to feel even older? Harry potter 1 was released 12 years ago.

it was cgi, not actual gameplay, you shuld NEVER expect a game to play or look exactly like a cgi trailer

Yeah i remember this. I jumped on the hate bandwagon so fast. It took a while for me to convince my self that this Dante was cool. By the time the second trailer came out i was in love with this game. Back then everyone thought this was Tony Redgrave because the producers were saying it was a prequel.

Yeah I liked the look of this trailer too, it made the game look darker and Gothic. But I'm happy with what we got.

I remember that! Would have been cool it they went that route.

Its cool seeing how much the game has changed.

Ok hold up, what's with this sudden appreciation for the reveal trailer now? I remember the Devil May Cry fanbase crying like little babies because Dante's hair was black.

Not everyone was like that. Sure the majority of DMC fans back then hated it, but I always liked the reveal trailer and supported this reboot from day 1.

I remember first seeing it and literally hating everything about it. The look, NT, everything about it ****ed me off. But then I actually looked at it for its action and found some interesting things about it. The game being more urban was something I wanted for DMC for a long time, and I thought Dante did look pretty badass with that urban too cool for school outfit. Then the first gameplay trailer for E3 came out and I was skeptical. More came and I was enjoying it.

However I do miss the 2010 Dante. I liked his coat in that one and his smoking. He was like the dude who didn't need to look like a model to kick some ass.
