I've been playing DmC since I was a teenager. I'm a huge fan of the series and wanted to share my opinion of the game with you guys.
Stuff I liked- Dantes new look and the overall modern overhaul of the DmC world. (Not to say I didn't like the look of the previous installments, but the new looks looks great as well)
- The angel/demon story concepts and how they applied it to the game play
- The voice acting (This is an area DmC really shines in!)
- The graphics and level design (Another strong point in this game)
- The new weapons (Aquilla, and Osiris especially)
- The social commentary in the story. (It's entertaining even if I don't necessarily agree with all of the points they're trying to make)
- The flow of combat generally mantains the feel of previous DMC installments.
- The vast amount of difficulty settings, unlockables, and upcoming DLC
Stuff I'm on the fence about
-Auto lock
- Enemy variety/ design (Some of them are bland and dreary looking, while others have genius design to them)
Stuff I didn't like
- Current difficulty is too easy. DmD especially (Recognizing that you're hardcore fanbase only really plays on DMD you need to design this game mode for them, this difficulty pales in comparison to DMC, DMC3 and even DMC4)
- Devil Trigger (I understand they took a gamble here. While many of DmCs other gambles pay off, this one falls on its face. ..No... Just No...)
- Super Dante (Yeah with the new DT..... This **** is broken....)
- The Bosses
This is my main complaint. When I was a kid, what got me into the DMC franchise was the boss battles, each boss and the battle that ensued was unique. A mixture of strategy, reaction time, style, and trial and error was required to get past each boss. On harder difficulties you had to play these battles completely differently. Veteran players would engage in boss runs, each trying to outstyle and outrace the other. Phantom, Berial, Nelo, Nevan, Credo, Agni and Rudra, Vergil 3, Jester, the list of memorable battles goes on and on and on.
....Now we have...
.A Monkey
A Worm
A Floating Head
A Baby
The Savior .5
Vergil .5
None of these battles even come close to the bar set by previous antagonists in the series.. In difficulty or originality.... It's sad man.. This game does so much right but overlooks a crucial staple in the DMC series.
In Conclusion
I love the new DmC game. That doesn't mean I like any of the previous games any less. Each do certain things better than the other. I'd recommend it to fans of the series but especially people that are new to devil may cry. I think had a few things been tweaked / done differently we could have a perfect game on our hands. Nevertheless... DmC is a hellish thrill ride that most gamers are sure to enjoy.
Feel free to comment and discuss the game with me I always enjoy feedback, but don't be an asshole..... I'll just ignore you
