If you see on the GT preview video ,we see a child Dante holding Eva in his arms....if you look closely Evas heart have been ripped out and in her chest you can see the 3 eyes of Mundus forehead...that means Mundus killed her...also in the Japanese site there is an image of Mundus standing upon Dante threatening him to eat his heart...

I think the scenario of her death is the same way as pre-reboot, Mundus comes knocking on the Sparda household door, his minions kill Eva, Vergil stays to fight against them, and Dante runs away. In the end, each one thinks that the other is dead, but they later find out that they both survived the encounter.

Wow, I didn't noticed that (haven't got a bigger quality pic), good find. And gruesome. It'll be nice to have some light shed on That Night in-game, for once. In previous canon, all we had was vague mentions and glimpses in side media like the manga.
