'You won't be disappointed' with the new DmC huh? Hmm...Can we trust what the Product Manager Karl Reader just said in the article? Well, this is my comment about it.

The think is, the old Devil May Cry series is NOT finish yet! Especially the storyline itself. If they had planned to actually reboot the game after Devil May Cry 4 was released, CAPCOM had wasted their precious time to actually made Devil May Cry 4 in the first place! Mundus said he will return one day, but NEVER appeared in one of the 3 Devil May Cry games after Devil May Cry 1. Who is Nero? We hardcore Devil May Cry fans NEED TO KNOW MORE ABOUT HIM! Who was the one who came back to Dante's office at the end of Devil May Cry 2 scene as Lucia went to find out who was it. And CAPCOM should have made the Legendary Dark Knight Sparda's own game long time ago too. I wanna know how he met Eva for the first time, how Sparda was born and many other deep details that we wanna know. But sadly, from the way I see it, CAPCOM never concerned about the fans at all. :'(

Just let see how it goes though. I hope Ninja Theory is done with DmC reboot game. :'(

1. "CAPCOM never concerned about the fans at all."
Poppycock. By saying 'never', you're implying that Capcom, since their founding in 1983, have never cared about their fans, ever. Choose your words properly.

2. Capcom have already said that both DMC and DmC may have sequels so I don't see any reason to be worried.

Well he did appear in DMC3, but if he returned too frequently he would be something like this.

One thing I hate in games is "tradition". I hate how Capcom made Sigma appear in every game and made him cheap.
And how the rocket launcher is used in most of the final bosses in resident evil and makes it look like a Hollywood movie instead of a horror game.
Why does these things happen? Because fans will rant if it's not there. In my point of view Capcom takes their fans too seriously.
Yeah, white-hair go figure.

The business competition has gotten bigger. Games like shooters and western role playing games are much popular now than hack and slash games. Not just Capcom but other companies are creating games that appeal to the "mass" public.

i guess what I'm saying is there is a slim chance you be seeing classic dmc in the next 2 years. Not with the next console gen coming around the corner. Its more likely that Capcom will use their manpower to develop Dragon Dogma 2, RE7, or a new IP for the next gen console.

All the answers... who is Nero... will Mundus come back... why does Dante's personality drastically change in between games... and many more unexplained inconsistencies lie in unknown place...

This place is full of confusion, where normal is crazy, and crazy is normal. Where every thing that defies logic goes after confusing everything in it's unholy existence...

The old Devil May Cry series is somewhere within... a plot hole. Until a story writer gets off his ass to try and explain all of these incredible idiocies, then the DMC series of old will stay in this plot hole.

Joe Biden is best political candidate, Spiderman is better than Batman, , Christianity is fake.
New Dante is emo, cancer is funny because people die.

No I did not start the flame war, the flame war was inevitable. I merely made us skip 10 post

You're making it seem like the old DMC games had a consistent storyline with an overarching plot. As a matter of fact, all of the games are pretty self-contained and could basically be reboots in there own universe if you think about it. DMC 2 wasn't even suppose to be a DMC game nor was DMC 1. Where was Lady in DMC 1? Where was Nero in DMC 2? Yeah, no, none of the games are consistent and thus they had there own conclusions in every game.

Its finished in a way. All of the answers you want, they could just make a novel, manga or even a comic book series, and even then it wouldn't surprise me if Capcom messed that up as well. Wanna know who Nero is? Read the DMC 4 novel, there's a translation of it on Devils-Lair.org since some people accept that as canon. BTW, Hardcores don't give a damn about Nero. Wanna see Mundus back? Not gonna happen since he's trapped for another 2,000 years and it would be redundant anyway since we fought him in DMC 1. Who was the one that came to Dante's office? Well, make your own conclusions, does it really matter. It might be Lady, Nero, Trish or Dante. It won't change anything since from what we gather from DMC 2 is that Dante is uber powerful, so most likely its him. Besides, DMC 2 is crap and everyone hates it, so don't expect Capcom to try and resolve that since they try to distance themselves from it. We don't need a Sparda game since practically all the games have to deal with Sparda's legend anyway. Sparda would play no different then Dante or Vergil but only in God Mode so it would get boring really fast. So he would basically be like he's always been, a costume swap. Wanna know how he met Eva the first time? Capcom can just write a novel, manga or comic book about it, not spend millions of dollars to explain that in a game. How Sparda was born? When his mommy and daddy had sex. Its like people are grasping for straws now for something that never made sense in the first place and all of a sudden they realized it and are complaining about it now.

And BS about Capcom not caring about fans. Capcom does care about fans in a way, its just that some fans don't like what they offer and feel too self-entitled like if the world revolves only about there wants and there needs and they don't look at the bigger picture. If they didn't like fans they wouldn't make another Resident Evil, Street Fighter, Devil May Cry games at all. Maybe you just have too much of a high standard for there games, and if you don't like them, well i think maybe you should just stop caring about Capcom so much and focus your attention on another company.

That's not true. Fans had been complaining about Capcom's lack of consistency in DMC's storyline since... some months after DMC 4.

That's not completely true either. Capcom pays attention to the fans, true, but they often mistake what we like for what we want and change their games according to what they think will make them more populara. That's how DMC got into this mess in the first place.

I would say Devil may cry's storyline is directionless with a vague world and poorly thought out plot but it isnt bad or convoluted.

Convoluted means confusing and you want to see a confusing continuity, go play Kingdom Hearts/Metal gear solid or read Marvel or DC comics.

I love all of those stories but Devil may cry is cake compared to them.

Most of the plot holes are by omission, vague world building and more importantly laziness. I'm sorry if cap-com was too lazy to actually explain Dante's quietness in 2 or who Nero is in a less vague way in 4.

So its just needs someone with a vision and the actual desire to answer a few questions. I dont need all questions just some.

Why DMC 4 tho? Why not DMC 2 or DMC 3? None of those games were consistent with DMC 1. DMC 3 practically changed Dante's origins from what Kamiya wanted, just like DmC is doing, yet no one complained.. Why all of a sudden they make a big deal about it now? Let's not kid ourselves here, its because they dislike NT and everything they do. Even though they have constantly said that it has nothing to do with the older games. Yet these fanatics make it seem like its destroying the old games just because it exists and treat it like its DMC 5, yet also get angry that some people think of it as DMC 5.

"We" every fan whose against this game keeps using the word "we" like if it makes Capcom's job any easier on who they should listen to. This stupid controversy (which is a term i use very loosely) with DmC just shows that fans want different things and the only people who Capcom should listen to in the end is themselves and what they deem would make the most profit. Because really, that's what it comes down to, profit, you might not like it but that's reality for you. Because, Capcom has in the past taken some risks and not listen to fans, that's how we got DMC in the first place, by deviating from Resident Evil, and it payed off.

It's more so to do with the fact that Dante's look and personality from the DmC 2010 trailer was a drastic change for the fans to deal with especially since Nero stepped into the old Dante's spot light. and they instantly slung dirt at it. This is what Capcom wanted and it worked. I sometimes find it funny how fans say "Guess some fans are blind sheep to get this game. Shame..." Yet, they reacted the way Capcom wanted them to and let's not forget, they're the ones who bought every DMC after it came out. Some disappointing then others. *cough* DMC2 *cough*

Not intiereally true. Capcom changed that Resident Evil to DMC because of a glitch found in an Onimusha game for juggling enemies in the air. So Capcom decided to use this to their advantage and boom, DMC1 is a hit.

Capcom should actually listen to fans., but not the angry, blind fanboys. No, I'm talking about the skeptics. Skeptics are a vital part of this game's success. The skeptics will point out something that doesn't seem right, and the developers will improve on that and try to fix it or referbih it. If this game only had supporters on it telling them "good job! or it looks beast, better then the original!" from the first gameplay of "the fight" or even E3 2011 trailer, then the game would never improve to how much of a level it's on now.

Actually, people hated DMC 3 when it was first announced. So much so that they bashed his voice actor saying stuff like "You can't be Dante!" Dante's personality was off to alot of people, so they complained much like they are doing with DmC.

As for why no one complained about the inconsistencies in DMC 2 or 3, 2 was said to take place far in the future, so no one had any problems. As for DMC 3, no one paid attention to the changes in Dante's origin. Those who did can't say anything because DMC 3 was official canon.

DMC came from Kamiya making too many changes to Resident Evil's story, so he created a completely new game, but that's not really risk- taking.

Now, Capcom has made alot of risky moves, so I'm used to it. DmC, on the other hand, was kind of a disappointment to me. After first seeing the 2010 trailer, I wondered whether Capcom was now fresh out of ideas that they had to go to a barely- experienced developer for creative innovation or do they think that need to make so many changes in order to appeal to a new demographic? Whatever the answer may be, Capcom has made their choice for their reasons and I can only applaud them for making such a gamble as they did with DmC.
