Blood Demon

From the creators of Heavenly Sword and Enslaved, the next chapter in the saga of Dante intends to recount the origins of the famous hunter of demons, the fans will be in accordance with the radical changes?

It is the natural jump-deserved. Although their games have not exactly been commercially successful, Ninja Theory has amassed a great reputation in the industry. And this praise does not miss the London studio. But due to the lack of maturity or ineffective support of the respective publishers, works with "Enslaved: Odyssey to the West" and Heavenly Sword ended up not coming, as one would expect, a compelling slice of players. However, the deepinvestmentinto the substance of the characters and protagonists of their games - reinforced by a cutting-edge technology in capturing the actors' performances - do not let anyone try that indifferent.
Not foreign to the work of producer, Capcom decided to give him one of the most renowned franchises to catalog. Nothing but the hidden world of "Devil May Cry", reinforcing its policy of Westernization their large series. Alex Jones, producer of Capcom's American home, confessed that the Japanese giant was surrendered to the charms of Nariko and impressed with the production of "Heavenly Sword." The emphasis will be given the characters and how the company shapes their games around these, and not the reverse, combines well with Nipponese School. Thedetailand direction of artistic environments and charisma of the characters was the icing on the cake for the beginning of this relationship.
Although the legacy of this four successful games can seriously intimidate the young studio, which completely takes the helm of the new production, Hideaki Itsuno, director of the last three chapters are on board to ensure that this boat will turn out well. [Itsuno] has more knowledge and experience in the production of the series than anyone else, "bailed us Tameem Antoniades, Ninja Theory's Chief Designer. And the partnership has been enhanced with constant exchanges of gallhardetes(?) since the game was announced. Both are peremptory stating that it would be impossible to do better, if there was cooperation between the two houses. polls Capcom gives its long experience in the field of battle, the British supplier ensures a vibrant and detailed world, but with a tone as black is an attribute in the series, and of course all the deep characterization of the characters, living up to their scrolls. "Together, we naturally find the balance between action and narrative, pointing out that the game can flourish in both areas," says producer. And what better graphics engine that Unreal 3 to ensurethe whole environmentthat has characterized theGothicUniverseDevil MayCry?

Ebony and Ivory
Known as Ebony and Ivory, the two pistols Dante's part of the brand image of the series. These weapons M1911 .45 ACP caliber semi-automatics with bullets were custom fitted with demonic power, able to literally do the devils cry, Ivory is the white, designed to shoot quickly and easily be removed from the holster being used with the right hand. On the left uses the Ebony, black, and is designed to hit targets from a distance. For who does not know the names are inspired by the piano keys, black and white, not only an allusion to the respective material of manufacture, as the rate of fire recalls the instrument to be "hammered". The butts of guns are covered by strips of wood, each one with photos of women from the Victorian era: Ebony is an blonde and Ivory a Brunette. The metal has the inscription: "For Tony Redgrave, By.45 Art Warks". Tony Redgrave, for those unaware, is the pseudonym of Dante, used in the work of mercenary. These weapons do not need to be recharged...

Despite the enthusiasm, the presentation of the new Dante was not peaceful in the community of fans. The silver-haired androgynous aspect and attitude of rock star, a raincoat and Gothic costumes seem to be outdated. Dante is now assumed as a typical rowdy, with short and black hair and seems to have left a bar fight. Confuse it with a character in the film Trainspotting Danny Boyle would not be exaggerated. The new design goes as far as putting a cigarette in the mouth of the protagonist in contrast to the old Dante, to whom the original creator, Hideki Kamiya emphasized being "too cool to smoke." Reactions that did not surprise the Ninja Theory: "As a team, both we and Capcom have a clear direction for DMC and we are very confident. I ask people to be patient and open their minds about the game. We have much to show and have sure that will leave fans of the series rendered as well as those arriving now Devil May Cry, "says the mastermind of the British studio. Before the revelation of the new aspect of character, there were dozens of meetings between the houses on the design and Capcom itself has been given so many proposals similar to the classic face, which prompted the producer to present something truly radical...

New start, more demons

Capcom has kept a little secretive about the details of the narrative, but as you know, it focuses on the origin of the protagonist as a young man [it seems even more evident in the third chapter of the saga] and the reasons that shaped his personal. "He's young ... much more aggressive, angry ... it's more rowdy than in previous games," says Antoniades. This demonstrates an angry unstoppable Dante has no perspective of the future and are jobless. One of the references and inspirations for this new beginning was the reboot of James Bond. In Casino Royale witnessed a secret agent who has not had a license to kill, but after two professional assassinations that elevated the status 00, Bond was marked as traumatic. In this story the spy had not yet refined their way of acting and even proved quite vulnerable but the charisma and potential in-laws were already allowing to foresee what was to become. The Ninja Theory wants to follow this exactly directive for Dante. Fans can expect an acidic character and sarcastic as ever, with large doses of black humor.

Page 4
Tony Redgrave
Mercenary profession, Dante dedicates his life to exterminating demons and supernatural aberrations. Encouraging the death of his mother and his brother Virgil corruption by the demonic host has in his own blood DNA of the devil. He is the son of Sparda, a demon of great power that rebelled against the dark emperor and defeated his army. So, being a half demon, has superhuman powers that use of various weapons in his cause. Designed in order to have a great style and aspect "cool," Dante is regarded as one of the most charismatic characters of video games. Together with his partner Trish, opened a branch of mercenaries whose name is the title of the series - Devil May Cry - and in various situations uses the alias Tony Redgrave. Inspired by a Cobra, a manga character, Dante uses his coat and clothes usually in red, a color that symbolizes heroic figures in Japan. The tone of sarcastic and playful personality makes it an ideal companion for a good night out!

The new game takes place on two planes of existence: the real world and the limbo. With the demonic essence running through his veins, Dante can see the presence of the supernatural demons, that humans ignore. The influence of the forces of darkness in people's everyday lives, watched by hidden cameras, works almost like a critique of contemporary society. Being noticed by a demon, Dante is transported to Limbo, a parallel reality where the aberrations show its true face.
It is precisely this world that the producer intends to introduce major new features. The elements of the scenario will be endowed with life - a organic world and metamorphic character, creating traps and literally collapsing on itself. This further justifies the concept of exploitation typical of the series, with the scenario to create barriers, turning into makeshift arenas, forcing the player to defeat all the enemies to advance.
For the brief demos of the game, shows well the personal touch of Ninja Theory in building environments. The detail of the scenarios and vibrant color palette reminiscent of the earlier works of the producer. It obvious that DNA remains in the series, meaning local Gothic style, large contrasts between light and shade and places very claustrophobic. Revealed in one of the videos we see on the stage of action based on a contemporary European city.

This reduction will be most practical in imperceptive Dante continued fighting and more agile than ever visceral. Wanting to please not only fans of the series, but also aimed at reaching a new audience, many of the known elements of the universe will return. The iconic pistols Ebony and Ivory (see box) are already part of your arsenal, as well as his sword Rebellion presence is guaranteed. Signature tricks and combos, such as Rain Storm back to make players smile.
Fighting with style
The ranking system and a variety of combos and focus of this production and this is already evident in the videos fighting game. The character's ability to throw enemies into the air, continuing to deliver blows and eliminating them without touching the ground are now accompanied by a dynamic sound system. How many more hits are added to the chain, the more instrument tracks will be introduced, culminating in an apotheosis of choirs in sync with the iconic choreography? Although he eliminated the different fighting styles, reflected in previous games, which changed the gameplay to DMC you can choose three different ways in real time. "Dante has a Human form, demonic and angelic. Players can switch between these modes at any time, whether to fight on the ground or air. They may even change in the middle of a combo, so Dante deferred the first strike in a manner and ends in a different, "says Antoniades. The conjunction of different forms and weapons remains fairly faithful to the tradition of the series: with a powerful blow on the ground, Dante modified gravity, lance enemies in the air in slow motion. Pull their guns and eliminates the first demons while bounces, and spins upside down, dispensing some more. And the survivors can still be pulled with a hook sliced through the crowd or simply thrown against other enemies. And as tradition dictates, the fighting will be easy to pregnant and play, but only the most devoted Dante will be able to "dance"!
If we had to sum up this production with an adjective, "passion" would be the best way to catalog. With DMC: Devil May Cry, Ninja Theory might finally and deservedly stamp their entry into the pantheon of major studios. We will have to wait a few more months to confirm the comeback made the limelight of Dante. Until then, the demons may well cry.

Nice job translating the scans.
So still trying to convince people this is Devil May Cry well that's..... humiliating. It seems they still think Dante's style is outdated..... lol..... looks like they'll learn their lesson the hard way. There are lots of other stupid things they said but im too tired and annoyed to write them all.
