S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Character Bio and Equipment thread.

Angelo Credo

Kept you waiting, huh?
Before this roleplay gets kicked off, I would like you to post a character bio, you know how they work, give us your character's name, a bit of background detail, specialisations, faction and starting equipment.

Each faction's starting equipment is below, please take the time to read the bio for each piece of relevant equipment before making your choice.

Cheers.

----

Duty equipment:
Weapons:

Enfield L85: A bullpup assault rifle both developed and largely in commission by the British military, weighing in at 5kg the Enfield is the heaviest of all available assault rifles found in The Zone, as such, its accuracy suffers somewhat, it does however feature higher than average stopping power per shot and holds fairly decent reliability.

It is one of the only assault rifles available that features a fitted, medium range 4x zoom by default, the firing modes open to it take full advantage of this, sporting a single shot, three shot burst or fully automatic firing mode.
It features a 30 round magazine.

Chaser 13: An American pump action CQB shotgun featuring a 6 round clip, low accuracy and very high stopping power at close range, it was primarily employed for door breaching operations and now finds common use among Duty officials as a rough and tumble, highly efficient and very reliable weapon for those who prefer their firefights more up close and personal.

Walther P99: The Walther P99 is a highly accurate and extremely effective sidearm sporting one of the highest degrees of stopping power in all pistols available in The Zone, it has a moderate armour piercing effective, high reliability and a very stable aim, a sidearm often favoured by those fighting in The Arena, the most efficient users have been able to win rounds before emptying even 6 of the 12 shots loaded in the magazine with precise, long range shots to the skull, quite a fearsome sidearm and one so favoured that it is even issued as standard to Duty’s new recruits.

Armour:
PSZ-9d Suit: The PSZ is a simple and reliable suit, however, due to the new materials used in its production and manufacture, it proves to be much more effective at offering good protection against various impacts, including firearm damage. This defensive armour still needs some work however, as it lacks a breathing protection system to protect against harsh environments, as well as a basic night vision unit.

Freedom equipment:
Weapons:

Dragunov SVD: The SVD is the standard weapon of the long range division of the Freedom army, a high powered rifle that is extremely effective at piercing bulletproof vests at long range, it is incredibly accurate at a range of up to 600 meters, beyond that, it begins to lose its stopping power. It features a 10 round, square removable clip, an adjustable scope and an optional silencer attachment. However, due to the nature of the rounds fired, silencers only tend to have a life expectancy of approximately two full clips before wearing out entirely.

It is a highly reliable, durable rifle that only jams on very rare occasions, usually after months, even years of little to no service, a fearsome rifle indeed.

Dragunov SVU: A rifle very similar to the SVD in purpose, however, it differs in design by being a much smaller rifle of bullpup design, it features a 20 round clip and an effective range of 300 meters, it was initially designed as a replacement for the SVD, yet due to the sheer difference in design, capacity, stopping power, accuracy and effective range, it became a different classification of weapon entirely.

Formerly found in use by Spetsnaz SWAT teams, it now finds significant use within the mid range division of Freedom’s army, due to the fact that it features a semi automatic, as well as a fully automatic fire mode.

AN Akaban:
The AN Akaban is a rifle that finds common use among the members of Freedom who choose to forego the Sniper’s creed, members of Freedom who use the AN Akaban prove to play an effective supporting role for their long range sniping divisions.

The Akaban is a remodelled variant of the traditional AK-47, it features a faster firing rate, larger clip clocking it at 40 per clip, three fire modes varying from single shot, three shot burst and fully automatic, it features similar reliability to the original AK, that is, it very rarely jams, however it has a relatively low stopping power, poor accuracy and generally rather high recoil, not an ideal weapon, but one that saw the most use by the original Ukraine military and is therefore the most commonly found assault rifle in the Freedom Army Warehouses.

Walther P99: The exact same variant as the one issued by Duty, for more information, see the Duty description.

Armour:
Wind of Freedom Suit: This suit is a lightweight armour made up of a light, standard issue bulletproof vest and smaller Kevlar plates, it is designed primarily for use by Freedom’s sniper division, as the lightweight nature of the suit affords significant manoeuvrability, as well as this, the reduced weight allows for extended periods of running, it is for this reason that Freedom Snipers are renowned for being “Ghosts in the wind”, being able to move in, hide, take a shot and run before anyone even knows they were there.

The Wind of Freedom suit also features two oxygen tanks and a breathing protection unit in order to defend against harsh environments, something that the standard Duty suit lacks.

Guardian of Freedom Suit: A suit designed for the users of the AN Akaban, it is a suit reinforced with a heavy, non-standard bulletproof vest as well as thick Kevlar plates, it is much heavy than the Wind variant, affording less manoeuvrability and reduced periods of running, the armour however is able to withstanding extended periods of mid range fire from small arms weaponry, such as low calibre assault rifles like the Duty Enfield or the AK-47, however, the armour piercing effect of the Walther P99 is more than enough to piercing the Kevlar plates and bulletproof vest.

Loner equipment:
Weapons:

Note: The Loner’s equipment is comparatively weak when taken with the Duty and Freedom standard issue equipment, however, this is because that the Loners live off the land and do not have the same advantages as Duty or Freedom.

However this will become less of an issue when the Loners earn more money and travel to Rostok, where they are freely able to trade with Barkeep, indulging themselves in some of the lower end Duty equipment.

AK-47:
The AK-47 is a traditional, reliable assault rifle that is commonly sold on the black market, it features a 30 round clip, low accuracy, reasonably high stopping power and low recoil, it is also renowned for being an incredibly reliable weapon, used by even Veteran Loner Stalkers due to how cheap and effective it is. It never jams and features the three standard firing modes.
It can also mount a 2x zoom scope should an appropriate model be found.

H&K MP5:
The H&K MP5 is a popular, commonly found sub-machine gun with a high fire rate, 30 round clip, low accuracy and high recoil, it is cheap to purchase and incredibly common to find on the bodies of Bandits, as well as in supply stashes.

It is a fairly reliable weapon, only jamming on the odd occasion, the major drawback is this weapon’s incredibly low accuracy, it is only ever true to where you aim on the first shot, every other shot after that will deviate quite greatly from the initial point of aim, which is why most wielders fire in three shot bursts to minimise effective spread and increase stopping power.

Makarov 12:
The Makarov 12 is a compact, lightweight and accurate pistol, is features an 8 round clip and ammo for it is commonly found, being the most abundant in The Zone, it comes in at just under 1kg, making it the lightest available pistol, however it is extremely weak, has comparatively high recoil when taken against the Walther P99 and is unreliable, jamming often.
It is recommended that you find a more efficient sidearm as soon as possible.

Armour:
Mercenary Suit:
A lightly armoured suit covered in bullet resistant fibres, like the Freedom Wind suit, it allows for extended periods of running and high manoeuvrability, the lightweight nature of the suit grants Loners a much needed advantage, the ability to carry more salvaged equipment without being weight down to the point that they are unable to run, this suit is the reason that freshly starting Loners end up being so well off so fast, because they are able to horde numerous rifles, piles of ammo and side arms in their backpacks before being over encumbered.

Character Name: Ghost.

Faction: Duty.

Specialisation: Long range engagement, sniping and infiltration.

Background information: Ghost is a high ranking Duty official, he has been a member of the faction for over 10 years, in this time his actions have distinguished him as a veteran member of Duty, he formerly headed his own specialist fire team, a group that undertook covert operations into Freedom territory, often ranging from intelligence collection to assassination missions, Ghost's squad was renowned for their ability to take on any contract they were set.

However, two years ago, Ghost made a horrible mistake, after being issued a contract to deal with a hostage situation, specifically one dealing with a group of Mercenaries holding a Duty VIP hostage, Ghost made the call to send his team in. The proper recon work was not carried out and the leading member of his team snagged a tripwire, detonating several high explosives located all over the building. The mercenaries and the hostage were killed in the process, along with his entire team, a decision that haunts him to this very day.

Now, Ghost takes it upon himself to lead and train the Duty newcomers, hoping that by taking their hand in the field, he can atone for the mistakes he once made.

Equipment:

Armour:
Hunter PSZ-9d: A highly improved variant of the original PSZ-9d protective armour, this suit sports additional defence against impact damage from firearms, as well as resilience to explosives coupled with additional protection from anomalies. It makes up for the faults presented by the original suit by featuring a night vision module and a breathing protection device.

This suit is used primarily by Duty members who hunt mutants, hence the suit's prefix title.

Weapons:

Lynx: A heavily modified Dragunov SVD, taken apart multiple times by hand a rebuilt with several different upgrades. As a result, this SVD is much more accurate and features significantly higher stopping power than the standard SVD, Ghost found this weapon after a raid on a Freedom forward base, claiming the weapon for himself, he has used it in every operation since, modifying it significantly.

Steppe Eagle: A hand made and heavily modified Desert Eagle, the components are fine tuned to achieve incredible accuracy for a pistol of it's class, as such, it benefits from having higher accuracy and handling.

Name: Wraith

Faction: Duty

Background Info: Shrouded in mystery, his true face never seen, his real name never revealed, even the Duty officials know little of his past. All they know is that he was raised as an orphan after his parents were killed by mutants, sparking a deep hatred for them. He is quick and to the point, and says only what needs to be said. Otherwise, he keeps to himself. However, he shows a deep caring for his fellow soldiers, even if he never expressly says it, he'll gladly give his life to save his squad-mates.

Some people aren't even sure if Wraith is male or female, but all the proof you need is to hear him talk just once. It's a bit hard to coax him into doing that though.

Equipment

Armor
Air of Duty suit: A heavily modified Wind of Freedom suit that he stole himself shortly before joining Duty. It sports a larger air tank that can be detached and given to another person, making him a walking lifesaver in oxygen deprived environments.

Weapons

Chaser 666: A shotgun that he'd been given after showing incredible prowess in knife combat. It's designed to compliment his close range tactics, and it's cone of fire is significantly shrunk to ensure maximum damage.

Walther P99: The only unmodified piece of equipment that Wraith uses. It's just a standard issue pistol. The reason he hasn't changed it is because "It's fine the way it is."

Specializations
High technological empathy. Can repair machines he hasn't even seen before.
Close-quarters combat.
Stealth.

Bio: One of the few females to have ever joined the Freedom Faction,

Georgia had told doctors that she was living off her wits and knowledge to survive in the Zone, which professionals had deemed impossible as the plant-life would have killed any human if they consumed it.

Fellow Freedom rookies have deemed her a freak.

Georgia has a no-bull attitude and is very honest. She has even been known to disobey orders. She finds team work difficult and prefers to work alone.

As for her past, little is known of it, as she refuses to speak about it.

Military Files suggest that a Top Secret project was being completed around the time Georgia would've been found. The File suggest that their project should be able to survive conditions in the zone.

Thanks for the bios, however, I'd appreciate it if you didn't modify the default starting equipment too much, the idea is that you're rookies, you're new to your factions and new to The Zone, heavily modified gear is fine some time down the line, but I want to set up the atmosphere of having to fend for yourself to upgrade, modify and buy better equipment, instead of having you all start as super human power houses from day 1.

The reason my character has modified equipment is because he's acting as a 10 year Veteran and is in charge of taking care of and training the new comers, get some money, contracts and experience under your belts and fine, but for now, please, stick with the default gear, then I'll let you do whatever the hell you want with your equipment, that's the only limitation I'm imposing.

My character was intended to be a sort-of-rookie anyway... i'm trying to sort her bio out atm... i'll sort out her weapons as well

Aye, no problem, admittedly I was wondering what happened to your character's background section, was a little perplexed, but I look forward to the read. :p

Well, the background I gave for my character is that he was pretty much a drifter stealing from Freedom and Duty until one decided to hire him. He likes to tinker with things. He wasn't issued the modified equipment, he modified it himself. However, I don't think it makes him overpowered. If his modded shotty seems OP'd, I'll just turn it back into a normal 13 model instead of the 666 model he made for himself.

Angelo Credo

Kept you waiting, huh?
^ Fair enough, I'd prefer it if you made use of the original Chaser 13 for the time being, the suit I'm fine with though, it'll come in useful for some of the missions I have lined up for the Duty faction.

But you see where I'm coming from right? I'm not trying to be a dictator over this RP, I just want to set up an atmosphere.

Yeah, I see your point. Chaser 13 it is. I'll have him find some parts later in the story that he uses to make the Chaser 666.

Is it okay if I give my guy a high technological empathy? Like, he's really good at fixing machines, even if he's never seen one? We need a mechanic anyway.

Angelo Credo

Kept you waiting, huh?
Yeah that's fine, it's why I suggested things like specialisations, so you can specialise in things like repairing vehicles, treating wounds, explosives etc, whatever you see fit.

EDIT: TCD, yeah fine, keeping the mask is okay by my, it's just something I wanted to point out, don't mod the starting equipment too much because I'm trying to make a decent atmosphere for the RP, but yeah, the mask is fine to keep. :)

NAME/Alias: Garviel Sylphfreed/Cyanurus

FACTION: Freedom

SPECIALIZATIONS: Garviel specializes in Medium to Long ranged combat, and although he is part of a long-range oriented faction, he prefers to be closer to his enemies. Garviel can adapt to any given situation quickly, but suffers from his inability to fight in close-quarters combat. Though he carries a knife and a sidearm for close combat situations, he has displayed failure to complete a kill when an enemy is aware in past engagements. Garviel is also a decent candidate for assassination and covert-operation missions, which is the only time he is able to successfully take down an enemy at close range.

EQUIPMENT: AN Akaban, Walther P99, Guardian of Freedom Suit, Close Combat Knife.

BIO/Characteristics and Appearance: Garviel is young man, beginning his 29th year of life. Throughout the past few years, Garviel has been known to take up missions for both Duty and Freedom as a mercenary, but has recently committed himself to the Freedom faction for unknown reasons. He has displayed a decent ability to issue field commands in the past, but prefers to strategize with fellow soldiers as a team. Garviel has been in several past engagements forcing him to undergo close combat with enemies, which he has never been good at, and a recent injury to his left eye (stray bullet wound) makes it difficult for him to concentrate on objects (or people) within an estimated 2 meters. Garviel is a kind fellow, easy to get along with, but has a fine list of peeves which, if crossed, will put him in a very bad mood. Garviel has short, lightly hazel colored hair and brown eyes, and his armor strays away from the standard camouflage, being colored with a darker set of browns and blacks.

Hey, Credo...dunno if the knife is going to bother you too much. If it is, I'll pop it out, and for my AN Akaban, does the game introduce scopes (attachable and detachable) later down the road, because my idea of comfortable fighting is in between mid-range and long-range. xD

Angelo Credo

Kept you waiting, huh?
Ah! Knife! Totally forgot about the bloody combat knives! Blast and damnation!

EVERY person of EVERY faction by default is issued a combat knife, it's standard equipment of every soldier in game, so why not in the RP? Thanks for reminding me, would have totally forgot otherwise. :p

Also, yeah, scopes will be introduced further down the line, usually you can buy them from your faction's respective traders and attach them to your weapons, however, only a certain type of scope will fit a certain type of weapon, not all assault rifles can mount scopes, for instance, the AN Akaban, AK-47 and 47u can only mount a specifically designed Russian scope, whilst most common Duty assault rifles can only mount specifically designed NATO scopes.

HQQR - Solid

Faction: Loners

Specialization: Forester specializes in all forms of explosive arms. From makeshift pipe-bombs to C-4, he's the guy you call when you want something blown to bits. Boomtown guy you DO NOT want to want to get into a fist fight with.

Equipment: Combat knife- customized to have ejectable blades, that can shoot out at 3 fps for a nice surprise. The knife you'll want to bring to a gun fight.

Primary weapon: Ak 74u- un-modified

Bio: Forester, from a young age, was always for some reason able to make explosives. Probably due to the fact that his father was a demolition worker in the Zone.
