Difficulty modes
Seeking a challenge? I’ll wager that if you’re a long-time veteran of theDevil May Cry series, or even someone whom bares a slight familiarity with DMC games past, the default difficulty mode offerings of DmC: Devil May Cry will barely be enough to get those demonic pulses racing. Thankfully, Capcom and Ninja Theory have hidden away a handful of devilishly tricky little hardcore difficulty settings to help keep gamers on their toes.

Son of Sparda
This’ll be the first additional difficulty mode that you’ll unlock. The Son of Sparda difficulty setting alters the main story mode’s enemies by increasing their toughness and granting them access to new attacks.

How to unlock: Complete DmC: Devil May Cry on any difficulty setting.

Heaven or Hell
This familiar difficulty setting (first introduced in Devil May Cry 3: Dante’s Awakening) provides what is widely considered as the most interesting story mode alteration: one-hit kills for enemies, bosses, and also Dante. Enemies also benefit from the same new attacks that are introduced in the Son of Sparda difficulty mode.

How to unlock: Complete DmC: Devil May Cry on the Son of Sparda difficulty setting.

Hell and Hell
Arguably the most challenging difficult mode available in the game, Hell and Hell retains the same one-hit kill gameplay model for enemies, ie: Dante will die in a single blow, but allows enemies the same statistics and perks of the Son of Sparda difficulty mode.

How to unlock: Complete DmC: Devil May Cry on the Heaven or Hell difficulty setting.

Dante Must Die!
This one’s been around since the beginning, debuting alongside our white-haired protagonist in the original Devil May Cry. In DmC: Devil May Cry, the Dante Must Die! difficulty mode is just as daunting as you might imagine, relentlessly hurling obstacle after demonic obstacle into your path, with relatively little time to breathe. Expect a higher frequency of enemy spawns, increased enemy health and damage output. Good luck!

Costumes/outfits
With each gaming release, Dante’s always brought with him a remarkably diverse wardrobe of — often outlandish — attire with him. And in DmC: Devil May Cry, our hero is no different.

‘Standard’ / white-haired Dante
Bearing a much stronger resemblance to the classic Dante of yore, this Standard ‘costume’ adorns the Son of Sparda with a slightly lengthier dirty-white-styled hairdo. To unlock, simply complete the game on any difficulty setting and it’ll be available to select from the Skins/Perks menu.

Son of Sparda
Dante’s coatless appearance, as seen during the beginning segment of the game. Unlock this mucky-vested outfit by completing the game on the Son of Sparda difficulty setting.

DMC3 Dante
At first, we weren't even aware it existed. But, as pointed out in our forums, the folks over at IGN have somehow, inexplicably been granted access to the demon slayer’s familiar crimson trenchcoat for use in the main story mode. How did IGN manage to get their hands onto this most coveted of leathery garb? They’re not saying, but hearsay generated amongst the community would have us believe that in order to unlock the DMC3 outfit in DmC: Devil May Cry, you need only…
