There would be more enemy variety and you could canon-weld DMC with Darkstalkers.
Seriously tho, you can explore the whole "demons aren't all bad, humans aren't all good" idea from 3 a little easier. Maybe Dante could have missions where he tries to protect a group of centaurs from human bigots?

I think that technically we have a what if scenario in the saga.
In DMC2 novel Dante travelled into an alternative reality were Mundus won and Nelo Angelo lead an army against the Demon Emperor.

I guess you could have him come back by accident. He ends up finding one of the portals made by the villians or gets curious about the Qlipoth being formed.

That question reminded me of this character. He'd be the star of a potential DmC2, seeking revenge for his father and to take over the demons.

What if sparda used yamato to split his demon side from his human form, and he could be brought back if they found his body and stabbed it with the devil sword dante as it has the rebellion fused with his og sword.

You could have his human self die off and leave the demon side. It would revert him to who he was before he awoke to justice and fought Mundus.
