What order should I play it in ?

Hey, I just finished Devil May Cry 5, even though you guys propably don't like it, I enjoyed it quite a lot.
So, I wanna play the original series, but I don't know in which order, because what I heard the story goes like 'third game - first game - fourth game - second game'.
So should I play it how they released it or like the story goes ?

Do I get some jokes or something ? Thanks.

Well, first of all... DmC: Devil May Cry is not Devil May Cry 5. I know, I know... but y'know...

So, the story's chronological order is this:
-DMC3
-DMC1
-DMC4
-DMC2

However, I would advise you to simply play it from DMC1 to DMC4, due to the gameplay. ^^

I can't add anything to that. That's a decent analysis.

Although personally I also consider Viewtiful Joe canon after the events of 2, because it's so funny.
