What anime/show are you watching right now?

Sword of the stranger
Great movie. It makes me pretty uncomfortable during the parts where the villains are carrying out their wicked plan. The main character, the kid, and the dog are an excellent trio. They band together and make something out of nothing. I really like the straightforward story, and the respect between opponents in that one. I watch it about once a year.

Watching the anime adaptation of the novel "Shiki" (roughly meaning "Corpse Demon") by Fuyumi Ono.

An extremely quick run down would be that in a remote Japanese village, people are dying in suspiciously high numbers during one particularly harsh summer. The local doctor takes it upon himself to investigate and discovers that when the sun goes down, monsters roam the streets and have been draining the villagers they meet of their blood, the victims themselves also having a tendency to rise from the grave as monsters themselves.

Despite originally being a novel, the anime is actually an adaptation of the manga adaptation - which greatly expands on the source material but also hadn't finished serialization at the time and so several of the villagers meet different ends when you compare the two. As a fan of the manga, I naturally like the anime which is 1:1 to the parts of the manga that were out at the time. As a straight horror story, I especially like the fact that the Shiki are treated with the menace that they should be as a Japanese take on Vampire myths - no Twilight-esque romanticizing the monsters or anything, just the horror and drama that comes with having to fight for survival against creatures of the night that wear the faces of your friends and family.

I watched RE: Cutie Honey for the second time. The best of Cute Honey media. Short and sweet. It is a 3 episode OVA, but each episode is about 40 minutes long. This and New Cutie Honey are my personal favorites when it comes to magical girl shows. Granted, I am not that big into the genre anyway.

Hyperdimension Neptunia, actually. I saw that the show existed but I saw a meme of it and it reminded me that I never got around to watching it. Only 12 episodes so I thought I give it a go.

I'm trying to get into Frieren but I'm having a hard time picking a language. With shows that have a lot of germanic names, like Violet Evergarden and Full Metal Alchemist, I tend to stick with german or english, but the cast for Frieren in spanish is really good. it's just that their pronunciation of names is very obvious.

Frieren is very slow paced, and I find that in English it's almost unbearable. I prefer the Japanese subbed because of the better casting, but hadn't thought at all about the Spanish version. I may like to watch it that way if the cast is that much better as I can actually understand Spanish pretty well. I only catch a Japanese word I understand rarely. None of it really fixes the pacing of the show for me, but it's pretty decent, all the same.

I'm rewatching Vinland Saga for the fifth time right now. I don't know if I can ever actually get tired of it.
