i just have to tell my story of going to get dmc.

gamestop opens at 10 am, so i talked my wife into taking me to get it right when it opens because tonight i work till 9 and have to get up at 5:30 to go to work again the next morning (my schedule has been messed up lately and its really quite annoying.). so playing the game wouldnt be that possible till wednesday night if i didnt pick it up at opening to play for an hour or two (which i just got done doing).

after eating breakfast...jack in the box… we arrive at gamestop five minutes after 10. only there is caution tape all around the place because of ice. was i going to let some ice stand in the way of dmc? nope. i lowered myself under the tape and my foot gave way and i began to slip onto the ice. i quickly caught myself (tweaking my back at the same time...great...and saved myself from a fall. my wife was sitting there in the car with a oh shi- look on her face and i just stuck my thumb up and started walking like bambi across the ice.

finally i reached the entrance and walked in...safely to my surprise and greeted the gamestop man. there were no...and i mean no cases out for dmc at all. i was disappointed. i asked him for my copy and he went in back, i could hear cases falling amd thudding on the floor and he comes walking out with a large stack of xbox dmc cases amd a small stack for ps3 on top of them. i showed him my powerpoints card and he scanned it , mentioning that more people wanted the ps3 version. after i got the game he tried and tried to get me to preorder anything and took his time giving me my game.

once i retrieved it i felt relieved that i finally had dmc...i tippy toed safely across the ice and went home to enjoy playing dmc which oddly didnt come with a manual. fun times :)

Gamestop had trouble with supplying games this morning.
I recieved an email from them saying that:

Thank you for your recent order at Gamestop. I regret to inform you that there was an issue that prevented us from getting your pre-order shipped to you in time for the official release. This issue has been resolved this morning and we can get your order shipped to you today.

On the plus side, they've upgraded the shipping from standard to express, so hopefully it should arrive tomorrow

Manuals were really just something that took space within the packaging. It always felt nice to have one but I think its actually better publishers are "going green" (by not producing a print booklet) and eliminating something most people don't even use. The game itself is pretty straight forward with the tutorials and what not.

EDIT: This comment regards the US copies. Apparently, Euro copies have manuals. Shame on Europe for wasting trees! :P

Oh, and there was a manual... 4 pages long. In the middle a black and white picture of Dante and Vergil with a controller.
You're not missing much.

I felt inspired, so i decided to share my own story as well in response :)

I woke up this morning at 8 feeling rested, having eaten a large pizza the night before...because I knew tonight would be the ending to a long, long...two year wait. I proceeded to drive my roomie to work, talking about how excited I was because today was THE DAY. My girlfriend was sleeping at home, mentally preparing herself for this evening.
I got to work at 10 and immediately jumped on here to see if there were reviews released yet, new information, anything save for the spoiler forums, and engorged myself with information so as to satiate myself until my lunch. Time passed, and lunch came, and as I said I love you to my girlfriend, she smiled and laughed from her desk (she had gotten up finally and came to work (we work together)) and whispered in my ear...
go get your game.

I drove like a maniac from my workplace to the local mall, where I hade made my pre-order. I only had an hour, so I had to make it fast. As I found parking and exited my vehicle, I slipped and fell on a patch of ice. I felt nothing but excitement and picked myself up, trudging through the snow swept parking lot to the front doors.

Walking inside, I made my way to gamestop and stepped inside, and stopped. The display of Dante stood to the side, the display rack covered with copies of DmC, but I knew none of these were for me.

Walking up to Eric, my contact in the world of Video games, he asked if I needed anything, and my only response?
My Game.

As he puled it from his drawer, a sticky note on the top with my name placed unceremoniously in the center, he handed it to me and we shared a moment...I saw his copy tucked under the desk and we both nodded in agreement...it would be a long night defeating the forces of evil, but we were ready.

He printed my receipt, and explained my download code, and we parted ways game in hand.
sitting moments later eating my bourbon chicken I gazed upon my long awaited IP and smiled, as if it were an old friend.

I made it back from my lunch with moments to spare, and kissed my girlfriend, and sat down at my desk, thoughts of tonight ever-present, and entered my vergil's downfall code...

And for the last three hours it isn't taking it.

Despite the rage, still can't wait for tonight...and for capcom to email me with wtf is going on with that friggin code.

the end...for now.
