I was practicing the jump and trick cancel earlier and man, Vergil becomes even more powerful once you master them. He is simply too fast when you cancel the previous move and the enemies can't really react because they're still recovering from the previous move while you're dealing another blow. That's true even on GMD. Here's the little footage I recorded:

 
The grim trick breaks his moveset because it resets way faster than enemy step so you can cancel way more and way faster with it , to the point that noobs can pull off advanced combat with buton mashing

for me that is a letdown after taking so long to naster dante
