Vergil issue...

Darkstar Darin

The Badass In Black
Very serious question:
WAS VERGIL PLAYIN' B**** THE ENTIRE GAME?!?
Seriously, all throughout the game we don't really see him in action, get 2 guns from him, and work side-by-side with'im for 2 missions (devoid of him actual fighting since he's in the real world), AND watch him struggle with Mundus. Why is it that all of a sudden when he has to fight his brother he has so many abilities when he couldn't do s*** against Mundus?

He was like this most of the time:

I didn't like Vergil in this one either. Not because he didn't do anything (which is understandable) but he's also just a straight up asshole. He was willing to let Kat die, she shot Lilith in cold blood (again, understandable) and he reveals this big plan righ tat the end, thinking Dante will join.

I just don't like him in DmC. Much more then my hatred for Vergil in DMC3.

If you look at it from a narritive perspective, it makes better sense though.

I guess Vergil was kinda lazy, but he had Dante doing all the work for him, so why should he do anything? His advantage was that Mundus was unaware of him, so he couldn't afford to be seen and discovered.

As for his fight against Mundus, I have no idea. I guess they went like that for story purposes. He did save Dante from Mundus tearing his heart out, but only because he stabbed the guy in the back, but that's about it.

And I guess he's so high powered at the end because he's the final boss. It needs to be a challenge. ^_^

read the comic bro

I think Loopy is right. Virgil was lazy and was only a match for Dante because the plot required it. He should have qualified himself somewhere in the game, but I guess that's what the DLC will do.

I think it has something to do with the story following Dante the most. You really don't get to see Vergil through a lot of the game. If they'd had him in it more, then you probably would have gotten more of an idea of what he could do. Otherwise it was Dante's story, and the times where Vergil was supposed to be fighting you didn't get to see anything.

They didn't make Vergil feel like a very present force. He was here, he was there, but he showed no combat.
If they had shown him mincing through demons every now and again through the story it would have given you that underlying sense of dread. "Damn.. and I'm going to have to fight this bastard at the end too." Instead he was a computer hacker and gunsmith.

But... I really like this new Vergil so :p

In all honesty, yeah this Vergil sucked, it was his caring and kind nature that ****ed me off.

Really, Vergil was supposed to be a character that watched his mother have her heart ripped out, before his own eyes. And your telling me he is a gentle giant!?

For me, Vergil wasn't kind and caring. It was more like he showed enough care to get people to do what he wanted. The only thing he cared for was his goal. At one point, he did care for Dante, but I think only because Vergil assumed Dante was his equal, the one who would rule with him. But as soon as Dante stands against him, Vergil is very quick to fight and denounce him.

In the comic, he has feelings for Kat, but he wipes this away so that it will not interfere with when he wants to use her for his plans.

I didn't think Vergil saw Eva having her heart ripped out. Only Dante was shown in that image, and he was being held back while Mundus did his thing.
And if he did see it, then I don't think he cares. In the comic he says he was the son of a traitor and a whore. He doesn't think much of his parents if he's describing them like that.

However, what happened with his parents did leave him, with what he descirbed as a loss of control in his life because he did not know what he was or where he came from.

Maybe seeing her death did trouble him, but he pushed those feelings away. Getting revenge for what Mundus did to his mother was probably part of the drive to take him down, but also Vergil's belief that he is the one who should rule humanity and 'save' them from Mundus.

Most probably because of the gameplay. They didn't plan on making a 2 on 1 boss fight like in DMC 3,and to make the last boss fight less predictable.
