Totally ripped off the thread for villians :lol: So who are you're favorite game heroes?

Okay... I'm gonna be honest. This is a raw impulsively made list. I'm gonna revise it later. Only main characters though.

Flynn Taggart? Is that the guys name through the DOOM games? I thought he was unnamed...

Yeah, that's officially his name. It's never mentioned in ANY of the games, not even the remake (Doom 3), but his name is Flynn Taggart a.k.a. Fly. Read the Novels they came out with. The original four anyway. I know nothing of the newer Novels made for Doom 3. But his name is stated in their plenty of times. The books are also quite funny. Flynn is your common, sarcastic, c0cky hero xP
 
DOOM 3 ain't a remake. It's a new game in the series.

The first DOOM was played out in the moon, the second as the hell on earth, the third as the awesomeness that makes you **** your pants in mars.

I don't know... Are there novels for every single game? It doesn't sound like that they can make much of a novel about a guy trapped all alone with demons around him that he slays while he is trying to find an exit.

No...DOOM 3 was supposed to be a Reboot of the series. This is a very official thing. It's a complete remake, following a new storyline only loosely based on the original in the sense that there are demons, UAC, teleporter technology, and the Marine. DOOM 4 will supposedly take place on Earth (I believe) but it's not a sequel to 3, sadly.

I do agree that the game was scary as sh*t...It officially ruined the horror genre for me, as I played DOOM 3 and scared myself so badly that titles like Silent Hill and Dead Space barely give me a scare.

But they do take a few liberties in the novels. Flynn isn't completely alone. He finds a survivor named Arlene Sanders who is another Marine, and in the end they both end up finding eachother and traversing that last few 'levels' together, until the kill the Spider Mastermind, and then the second book is them going to Earth and finding out about the humans retaliation. It isn't exactly the same plot as the original games, but it's definitely entertaining. Look for

DOOM: Hell on Earth
DOOM: Infernal Skies (I believe that's the title)
And then there's one more, but I don't remember what it's called.

It's a reboot of the game, the game in a new perspective. Not a remake at all though...
It's as if the new DMC will be an platformer, it's still not an remake.

DOOM 3 was a reboot of the series. They didn't want to do it in the beginning because they didn't want to disappoint the fans. They knew they had to do really good work with it, so they did a little of a genre swap but still has that DOOM feeling in it. You remember the monsters and such. The gameplay is totally different, but epic nonetheless.

But because Flynn ain't got much of backstory. I won't add him in my list.
