My opinion:
Well, seeing as how early DmC wikis referred to Dante as "Tony Redgrave", I figured that, unofficially, everyone else besides Kat Vergil and Mundus referred to him as such due to the fact that he couldn't reveal his identity to anyone and because he thought the name sounded cool.
Of course, if you meant something else, then I'll admit to not understanding the original post.

Well, he did get to know them in a biblical sense... and we all know you're not in your right state of mind when doing the ba-donk-ka-donk.apparently all the strippers he's been around know him as dante.

all that aside, a lot of the set pieces are in place. Tony redgrave was an alcoholic who dyed his hair and refused to acknowledge his demonic heritage. He's missing a few things though: he's not a mercenary, he isn't good friends with a merc buddy and his family, and there's no gunsmith to gift him ebony and ivory

It could have easily slipped out at some point during that time.
well, it is a rebooted franchise. dante/tony's origins can be switched up a bit. dante is in his early 20's in DmC. in the preuel comic, he doesn't seem to know much about himself other than the fact that he can see demons. in some flashback sequences though, we see him in a black silk shirt. so i'm wondering if tony redgrave was is a stolen identity
if I remember correctly (don't quote me on this) there's an actual redgrave family which dante is not a part of. He adopts the name tony redgrave, after antonio redgrave, someone who he supposedly deeply respected
maybe. i'm unfamiliar with that, but i've never actually been able to get my hands on a devil may cry manga. so i wouldn't know. but in the anime, its been explained that dante (and vergil most likely) was placed under the name "tony redgrave" as a child after sparda died and she went on the run with the twins
Well he could be a alias Dante uses for whatever reason.how would this work? what would be his story in the series?
Hmm.
I'd like to think of Tony Redgrave as a completely different person from DmC Dante.
I like to think of him as a Dante lookalike who looks very similar to Dante, only in his late twenties. He is a full-time angel mercenary, killing any angel that happens to have a bounty on it's head. He is a bit of a drinker and tends to get drunk in his apartment and has an affinity for finding strong people to fight. However Tony is very lonely and is always alone, no one around to confide with or get to know. Because of this, when he isn't drinking he completely immerses himself in his work. He has a bit of a carefree attitude and a sweet smile, but has a grim sense of humor and is a little sadistic. However he is very mysterious and prefers to keep it that way. He looks extremely similar to Dante, complete with white hair and a black coat. It should also be noted that Tony Redgrave is the blood-brother of Sparda, and has looked for his brother for many years.
*DmC 2 fan plot incoming*
When Tony Redgrave kills an important angel after being hired to do so by a demon drug-lord, the Angels become angry with him and declare him "a target that must be destroyed." However they mistake Dante with Tony and attack him instead of Tony. One of the angels, Gabriel, manages to attack Dante successfully and brands him with the 'Mark of the unholy'. The Mark of the unholy is a curse that ravages the body overtime, eventually killing the host.
With time running out and his life in danger, Dante has to find Tony Redgrave or risk death.
Angel 1: Hmm...sir there is this guy named Tony Redgrave going around attacking and killing angels.
Angel 2: Hmm...ignore him.
Angel 3: SIR! ANGEL SLAYER TONY REDGRAVE HAS KILLED XXX!
Angel 2: EGAD!!! THIS DEVIL MUST DIE!!!
Angel 1: .............but...I....
Angel 2: Silence, Two Wings! Cherubs only!
Angel 1: asshole.
I just quoted myself.Mother ******* server.
Until that incident Tony has only been slaying rogue and corrupted angels, those who have turned their back on the 'Alpha-Omega' and cause chaos and do awful things. They weren't concerned with them, let alone actually caring that some human was handling their problems for them. The angels wouldn't bother with someone who they don't see as a threat.Question so why wait for Tony to kill important angel to consider him a dangerous target?
I mean if he's been hunting down angels for a while shouldn't he have been on hit list long before killing said angel. (I mean in Bayonetta angels attack Bayonetta just because she is a witch and didn't wait for her to kill one of the 4 virtues to have a reason to want her dead). That is like if Mundus waited for Dante to kill an important demon before trying to have him killed.

No. In Ezekiel chapter 1, verses 4-13, It describes cherubs. 4 faces (man, lion, ox and eagle), Four wings (two to fly, and two used as clothing) hands underneath the wings, legs described as "straight" and calven hooves for feet. Also, They're on fire with lightning sparking around the flames. In fact, the word "cherubim" (proper name for cherubs) means "alive ones". Basically, the thing that stood out the most about them is that they're alive.Wait?
Aren't cherubs baby like angels?
