This weeks Famitsu. A total outrage.

I'm proud to present this weeks famitsu of DmC.
...NOTHING! Not a single damn page.
I was quite shocked because despite the leaks, new characters, bloody palace confirms, Training mode introduction, Interviews, New gameplay vids, They actually chose not to write a single page of DmC.
And what we do have for this week? it's terrible.
A more than 8 pages worth corner about a Resident Evil 6 walkthough.
It shows all the weak enemies and their variation though mutating...Isn't this game released one month ago?
6 pages of Fist of the north star and more of Dynasty warriors...(which has no hope of selling well) that almost had exacly the same info as last week.
And finally...(sigh) a corner to satisfy Anime otaku creeps like demongaze. (Which is almost the same release date as DmC)
Hopefully there wasn't much of metal gear...but this is understandable due to lack of new info.
What are they thinking? It's almost less than two months to the release!

Finally my outrage came to the pinnacle when I saw the corner of "Top 20 games that gamers are waiting"
Well there was MGR. But the other 19 games were games that I never even heard before or Had a booth in TGS. And most of them seemly had a corner in this weeks famitsu. This corner is NOT a corner for gamers to notice the new updates or releases! It must remain faithful to it's title! "Top 20 games that gamers are waiting"!
Is this what one of Capcoms main franchise deserves? Or is it just bad marketing or media?
I really hope more next week. Since the demo is coming out shortly.

(I would surely like to change this when I'm hunting jobs this year...I'm seeking to enter Capcom's promotion and marketing division.)

I think they're saving it for the end of the month since Greg from CU said that he'll be showcasing a new weapon soon.

Also, are those top 20 games really unheard of?

Well...it seems info is more slow in Japan here.
Constant info is what "I" want. But the thing is that Japanese audience (especially in 2ch. The most notoriously stupid class of forum in japan) are just too ignorant and single-minded that they seem like they haven't seen anything since the first trailer.
I just converted, the nicovideo (one of our largest video sites in Japan) community of DMC giving them new info from this thread as fast as I could and they seemed very interested in the game and soon people stopped ranting in live-on airs.
From this experience I say capcom should let Japanese DMC users know what is new as fast as they could.

And yes, those other games suddenly popped in from last weeks famitsu. There is no way they are popular enough to be rated.

Shouldn't the japanese know more about this game than us since they can read the official web site and stuff? What kind of info do we have that they don't?

I could say that is a NO. Most of the Japanese crowd doesn't even barely know the added systems other than the angel/demon modes. Nor could say the difference from the classic series besides the hair.
They never saw the gamescom, captivate, comic-con gameplays and still think they can judge how this game moves. (Which is just darn foolish) And always info is 1 or 2 weeks late.

Typically Japanese peoples inancessibility to English means they have no options to search through the net besides Japanese sites. (Which site owners also can't do English)
This is why it's such a big deal to do English in this country, because English=knowledge. You can literally abuse it to do anything.

Don't worry, probably the next one will have tons of news.

Look at how many news have been released lately about DmC. It's a matter of time until they update it. ;)

This explains alot. I have always thought that the Japanese didn't cover many games made outside of Japan, because they simply did not care. But if it is true that it is because they have trouble with the English language, then it makes alot more sense.

Yes that's solely true, I think you learned something new of our race. lol
The famous "Japanese gamers are not interested in western games" term is...well sort of close to the mark.
They are simply living in a closed vaccum and have no chance to even know the existence of the outside world.
And the worst bit is this doesn't apply just for games....We can't even predict how an westerner will feel or act because of this.

I know jack about the Japanese language yet I still browse their sites for news and stuff. IIRC, schools in Japan teach basic English so they should at least be able to read simple sentences.

We also have sites like Siliconera and Gematsu to translate Japanese news into English. Aren't there any sites that translates English news into Japanese?

I say none. Most gamers rely on prompt report blogs that strip off information from 2chan (A very UNRELIABLE source since the blog owner could just pick up posts that fit his benifits.) and make cheap peddling money from affiliates from views.
Firstly they arn't fast at all. And it's a waste of time if you can do English at the first place since it's a blog with very biased viewpoints.
And finally reading 2chan and report blogs are considered a very tardy and...ahem, "Nerdy" thing to do.

Huh...I never knew that Japanese gamers are so detached from the western world. Anyway, did you really single-handedly convert the entire anti-DmC crowd by just giving them information we have?

2011 could never been worse. Because of constant flame wars the comments on the boards were triple the numbers of the threads of the original series. Also the live-airs of DMC were mostly negative about DmC.
Well I didn't do it single-handedly of course. The people who went to this years TGS were very helpful to add up comments and dictionary details, and thanks to you guys fast info...It's quite rare to hear an outright objection in the DMC community.

HO HO HO looks like alot of people are getting coal in their stocking
GIVE EM HELL SANTA!
Hopefully this game does well in Japan. Seeing as to how even Call of Duty can sell 180k on it's opening week in Japan, I think DmC can sell about 100k or so.
I thought Japan were supposed to be the smart country when it comes to video games? I just died a little inside
