Ok so I wanted to make a thread where people state their fears for this game and I TRY to assuage these fears!

Let's see how this goes.....

By the way I will reply when I can but I don't want to double post and I live in Northern Ireland so... timezones!

I don't really have any fears other than I'll get the game and not like it. I don't really have the money to get many games, so I'm really hoping I'll love this game.

That is a fair fear to have and I see where you are coming from however the best thing to do in your position is to do what I do... when your console is off play DmC in your head and use the control scheme you know to "practice"! Yes I am sad :) I'd just watch the trailers from old to new and generally be excited!!

lol. I'll probably watch the trailers again, just to assure myself that I will love the game. Watching the game-play tends to be torture because I see what the player should do, and isn't doing. At least I'm planning ahead because of those.

The main fear (and the only valid one to pop up in recent months, in my opinion) is that this version of Dante is a brutish buzzkill and a jerk. Many fans dislike the fact that he either doesn't act like a younger version of Kratos (as he appeared to in the very first trailer) or that he doesn't act exactly like DMC 3 Dante.

I completely disagree with that sentiment, but that's just the only argument I can kind of understand at this point.

I fear about the glitches. everything else is good.
I think this is a good point as NT have had a lot of glitches in their completed games but imo I think Capcom will get them to iron these out as they tend not to have too many noticible glitches in DMC! :) If you fear this then I would try to think to myself that NT will work on the criticism from enslaved including glitches and general performance issues!! I do realise that this is a powerful fear but since Capcom are (mostly) professional when it comes to games it shouldn't have many glitches if any :D

True. Plus capcom's helping out so I'm sure all is good.

I can understand this fear although I have no idea why people have judged so quickly but for those who fear this I would advise that you maybe wait until after release and watch missions 1 - 3 and see how it all looks in context :)

I don't have any fears for this game. I'm pretty satisfied with what I have seen so far and nothing of the official info about it has me worried.

i have three main fears:

1. the story and gameplay dont live up to the hype its received (and ive played the demo)
2. that the game will have far less features than expected and what weve seen is the best well ever get
3. i keep dreaming of a buffalo man underground asking me to "believe"

cheers doc

My fear is the game will be light on combat "variety". There will be a ton of story elements and the game will be long from what I've heard, but I wonder how the combat variety will play out. Like will the combat system be enjoyable enough that I can put tons of hours into the it like I did for DMC3, God Hand, and DMC4. This is something you can't really figure out until you play the game...

My fear is Dante won't eat a strawberry sundae, it scares me; every, waking, moment. Actually I'm with what Dragon said, just a little worried on the glitches.

But to be serious, that black paint splatter that goes across the screen when you hit a new ranking, DISTRACTING! Not the splatter itself, I just I hate that you get that little tiny blob RIGHT in the middle of the screen when that happens. I fear that'll distract me more than Dante's jeans and tick me off, and I'm being dead serious.

Well...apart from the jeans.

My fears are varied! I fear that I won't like Dante's more brusque character enough to enjoy playing as him. That the treatment of the female characters will be gross or stereotypical. That the relationship between Dante and Vergil will be handled badly. That Dante will have an explicit in-game romance for the first time (barf). That there will be too much focus on platforming and not enough on combat (because I am bad at platforming and always loved that the franchise never had very much of it). That the combat is too different now for me to master. That I'm just gonna die...die all the time, but that's my fear with every new game.

Well doc Ive got bills to pay, college is hard on me and..oh wait wrong thing.

lol anyway my only "fear" really is the game simmering down late game because all the previews Ive seen have said the game has a good start and a lot of games do that but at the end just boil down to become luke warm ending/experience. For now the game looks good on its own two feet, and in two weeks we shall see if the demo holds up to that level and does a better job (for me specifically) than MGRs demo.

The only other minor issue would be if magically somehow this game doesn't do well at all and that causes Ninja Theories reputation to shoot down due to the negative backlash from DMCs legion of angry fans. But that is highly unlikely to happen due to the games qualtiy in terms of look and "feel"(feel being described by journlaist, devs, people who actually played it at cons- few buddies of mine said it played well just not there cup of tea- ,and greg from capcom unity who gives very nice descriptions of the gameplay mechanics in comparison to the previous titles).

And a one and a two and a three.^_^

That the treatment of the female characters will be gross or stereotypical. That the relationship between Dante and Vergil will be handled badly.
If Kat's character is handled as Trip was in Enslaved, along with every other female lead that's been in a Ninja Theory game, then you have nothing to worry on that part. Lilith meanwhile is meant to look as she is because of her obsession
with looking beautiful (plastic surgery overload).

This same thing goes for Dante and Vergil's relationship as brothers in this game. We never saw what made the the two fall out before the events of DMC3. Hopefully this game will deliver on that, which I'm positive it will after what was done with the interactions between Monkey, Trip and Pigsy in Enslaved.

That Dante will have an explicit in-game romance for the first time (barf).

Dante: Hey Mommy, where do babies come from?
Eva: Erm...ask your Father.
Dante: I did, but he just Mexican danced
Eva:...Did he now.

DmC is supposed to be like a film. Films have...awkward scenes. But, I do share your worry a bit, since I wonder how it will be pulled off.
