The Temen-ni-Gru demons...

So what's up with them? Are they loyal to Mundus or do they serve another Demon King or are they just demons who exist solely for the Temen-Ni-Gru? What?

None of them personally mention Mundus and some only serve the Tower/Forbidden Land like Cerberus guards the door, so I'm gonna say they probably acknowledged Mundus but don't serve him since he is kinda sealed away or only just resurrected at this point. Seems like they all just do their own thing inside the Tower which is kind of like a ghost town after being sealed away for so long with all the human inhabitants/worshippers long dead. They probably would have had their own minions in the past and maybe they were like rulers under Mundus of parts or provinces of it.

moost of them are just ****ed of at dante because sparda sealed them in
true, and there's also some more detail to be added here. All demons were angry in general at sparda because he closed the bridge between the two worlds. Demons that sparda personally sealed away would have been in no shape to fight dante.

A little known fact about sparda is that his feared reputation wasn't just due to his weapon skills and staggering raw power, but he also had many unique abilities unheard of in any other demon, including the power to strip a demon of its true name. Beowulf was angry that sparda blinded him, not because he was particularly fond of that eye, but because sparda only thought to blind him.

The reality is if sparda had actually seen beowulf as a serious threat, he could have reduced him to the demonic equivalent of a sunflower; beowulf is primarily angry at sparda because he was not seen to be that much of a threat. He isn't looking to avenge a little scratch on his face, he's looking to prove sparda wrong by wiping out his children, so that sparda would know he should have taken his power more seriously.

But he's wrong and the twins kill him pretty hard.

And the brighter the flame, the deeper the shadow
they are like guardians IMO.

very little about sparda's backstory is ever revealed, and the comics (fear not, they're canon) are one of the only places sparda's character is ever expanded beyond "dante's dad who fought the demons". I'd really love to have a novel and a game with sparda as the main character, but if they kept sparda's DmC reboot story I don't think it would really be the same
