The Mad Man
I've been replaying DMC3 on my HD collection. The whole story revolves around the two halves of the amulet that belong to Dante and Vergil. Arkham wants both halves of the amulets to unlock the power of Sparda and make himself the ruler of the world. To attain the power, he needs the two halves of the amulet which belong to Dante and Vergil, and the blood of a descendent of a mortal priestess who sacrificed herself to close the portal to the demon world, which was his daughter, Mary (AKA Lady).

As you can see, Dante has a necklace around his neck, which I think is one half of the amulet. Especially since Vergil has the same thing (the only picture of Vergil's amulet that I could find contained spoilers, but if you would like to see it, it is the picture of Vergil wearing normal clothes)
What do you think is the role of the necklaces that Dante and Vergil both have?
Let's also not forget Kat. She has a necklace around her neck as well, do you think this has anything to do with Vergil and Dante's necklaces?
EDIT: A lot of you guys are calling Kat a "sacrifice", but in DMC3, Arkham just needed the BLOOD of a descendent of the priestess. Literally, he needed the blood of Lady to open the portal. He did this by cutting her leg and letting her blood spill on the portal.

SO that means the amulets have a purpose to Vergil gaining power, and Kat must be the sacrifice since she seems to have special abilities like "Wandering through Limbo in spirit form." (This was said in the TGS 2012 trailer)

I thought she was talking about lost souls? Maybe she was rerferring to herself?

Got to say, I am on board with Kat being a sacrifice though if the pendants are some sort of key to the demon world.

yeahh maybe Kat is the sacrifice and that's why Vergil helped her...he needs her... the role of the amulets may have to do about their powers... Dante's demonic ( red amulet ) and Vergil's angelic powers ( blue amulet ).....and by combining their powers may be the key to unlock the hidden power of Sparda or something else that Vergil wants badly... So everything plays a part...yeahh i like that kind of theory :)

But wait. In the Vergil reveal trailer, he was more then prepared to throw away Kat, so maybe what she needs from her is done?

Unless Vergil is somehow working for Mundus and didn't care because as far he was concerned Kat wasn't in danger? or at least, would be kept alive for his plans? o___O

I don't know, I thought if they were going to bring that plot-point in they'd of reintroduce Lady instead of Kat and thrown Arkham into the mix. I still think Kat's just outlived her purpose, Vergil was no longer in need of her and didn't care what happened to her after that. Maybe that's why you don't see her in the shot where Dante and Vergil march off at the end of the Vergil reveal trailer, Kat's taking a backseat.

But returning on the subject of their Amulets, they could still have some importance. perhaps Sparda and Eva gave them to Dante and Vergil as so for them to be protectors over the two halfs? Although when you look at them, they don't look like they piece together, but then the ones in the original never did either.

Questionable though if they can unlock Sparda's power with them o.o but I'm sure they're not just flashy bling, they must move the plot forward somehow.

I wouldn't say they piece together but rather unlock the powers of the missing half of them. What I mean is Dante seems to be able to use angel powers like the angel dash and Vergil may not be able to use these powers but perhaps he has DT while Dante doesn't yet. Vergil's blue amulet therefore brings out his angel powers while Dante's red amulet brings out his devil powers.

Either that or the amulets were thrown in for kicks!:D

Damn, people are really getting into this storyline. I truly doubt Vergil is a good guy in this game, I can't knock that feeling off. The amulets, and both rebellion and Yamato, are meant to combine to create a Sparda/Eva Sword. Its a momento of their parents, at the same time passed down to Vergil/Dante for safe keeping. Limbo is like a collaboration of Heaven/Hell, Eve/Sparda's sword is used to combine Limbo with the human world, creating an apocalypse.

Also something worth pondering:
Why is it that Dante's Rebellion is only existant in Limbo, while Vergil carries Yamato in the human world as well?
Is his sword not a memento from his parents, but a human weapon? Or does his sword disappear in Limbo (theme of duality: Dante as guardian in the demon world, Vergil in the human world)? Then again, that's unlikely, since Vergil uses his sword in Downfall, which clearly takes place in Limbo.

Maybe Vergil has longer to master his powers, so he can force Yamato to be in the human world?

Also, about Kat being a sacrifice for the portal to hell, and Vergil wanting her for some other purpose, well, if he wanted to use Kat so badly, why is he mad at Dante when he wants to rescue Kat?

And as a side note: red amulet+ blue amulet= something pruple :troll: So maybe the guys can combine their amulets like classic DMC afterall. :P
