I've been sayin' it. It IS about the people that were killed by Mundus's outburst and Dante might be ****ed off that Vergil triggered it. I knew it. Of course I knew that somehow they need to address that. It would fell a bit away from humanity if they didn't. This may not be an important part of the story, but it is a sign of self awareness. You see that Dante did care about the humans that died there and that Vergil is showing more of his true colors. Saying it had to be done for their plan to work.
