at one point in time.

Am I the only one highly annoyed by this speech. Allow me to explain, as true as this is, it is true in certain situations, while in others it isn't, like in the fact that DMC was already an established franchise with established gameplay, and an established fanbase.

This statement is more true for new IP's, where millions of people AREN'T relying on you to make it true to the original series, and are not speaking against you ALREADY.

Basically, what Tameem said, was just a less harsh way of saying

"Shut up, you have no creative control, my game, my rules."

Say what you want against it but considering Tameem said that listening to fans would ruin a series, the two statements have the EXACT same meaning.

One word: reboot.

Say what you want against it but considering Tameem said that listening to fans would ruin a series, the two statements have the EXACT same meaning.

A thesis, that is so very comfortably put, to underline your point in just the way you like it.
No, seriously: You know you're exagerrating.

I understand where you're coming from, but that's a giant over-generalization.
I'll just disagree with you on this point, since any creator that has it in his or her mind to reboot anything has to have had a similar thought process at some point in time.

Oh, man If Tameem WAS under total control he would have made a Fandom Fantasy 7 with Dante with Sephiroth hair and a longer Yamato (NO sexual innuedo there).
The idea of "Orginal Dante with Silver watsits" was scrapped by capcom...so there! proof that Tameem isn't exactly making anything he wants.

you could say the same of kobayashi and itsuno and the DMC2 team.

DMC is developed by a group of people who dont want to work together.

So, what does that have to do with me still wanting the game?

Rephrase the words all you want, but that doesn't mean it's said in that way. Tameen wants to make a game not simply catering to fans but a game that would be fun and not constantly controled by the fans themselves, because what one group of fans like, another group could disagree, and thus this stand still occurs and BOOM, creative bankrupcy.

Even if he had flat out said that he doesn't care in the slightest what the fans think i still wouldn't see where the problem would be. It's not like you have to make out with the guy when you purchase the game. If the graphics, story, characters and more importantly gameplay look good to you, you purchase the game. if they don't then you pass. Simple as that. I don't know about you but i don't NEED to like a developer's personality to buy the games he makes.

No I think that's EXACTLY what he meant. "Shut up everyone! It's our job, we're going to do it how we want!" Yes it's based off an established franchise, but, hey, they were sort of forced into it (I emphasize sort of). But all of the creative stuff--like the art style, controls, story--it's all them, and they're going to do it the way they want. The only reason he didn't say it harshly is because he can't. Public image is important. Not to mention decency.

I'll never understand why gamers turn into totalitarian beasts when it comes to games. We really have no say in anything unless it's negative constructive criticism (i.e. DMC 1's underwater missions). And even then, the developers are the ones who are making the game, making it how they want.

That's actually a more positive statement than what your taking it for. It may come off as an arrogant way of Tameem expressing his creative control, but I'm pretty sure he's just restating what we already know: Capcom didn't want anything dealing with the old series' character design and have placed complete control in NT's hands. As such, Capcom is trusting NT to make a great game using their own individual interpretation of a great but dysfunctional series.

So the phrase, "We're making a game we want to make in a way we want to make it," is actually saying, "We are trying our best to make this game as good as possible with our own creative direction to the series.
