The angels

While the earth is run by the demons, what have the angels been doing?
Considering Vergil's words about "There has always been a war", the angels are sure not existing with exception of the obvious one: Eva.

Speaking of angels and Demons - 3:53

Prolly going to be adressed in DmC 2, but extremly thin basis that Eva was only angel seen in DmC.

For the most part I think it's because the demon's gained power 9000 years ago, and in doing used Limbo to their advantage. The demons essentially have an entire dimension veiled over the real world the angels can't go to. The angels were probably relegated to battling the demons anywhere they could, but since the demons had such great fortress in the impenetrable dimension of Limbo...

That's why the Nephilim were so feared, they had the powers of both, and if they fought against the demons, they had the capability of walking right into the veritable devil's den - the demon's weren't safe with Nephilim around.

Still would have liked to see more of them, but I think they were playing off that idea that angels don't meddle in the affairs of the human world, so they couldn't help The Order, or something :p

I think you got your story mixed up. The demons didn't rise to power 9000 years ago, Mundus did. And he rose to the top of the demon ranks. If the demons had won that would've been something to state right up.

It's a plot hole, nothing more. They just didn't have a place in the story. It's about demons ruling the world through the world's finance system, add angels and they are no longer ruling, they are fighting for control. It just doesn't have that same impact if the demons aren't the rulers, just fighting for it.

Well Mundus gained power over the dark hordes 9000 years ago, and he's been seemingly in control of pretty much everything from then on. That's what I say "the demons gained power." Mundus was leading them.

But the concept still stands that the reason why the demons are in power is because the war with the angels isn't as prominent, not with Mundus using a Hell Gate and having a personal hell sitting on top of the world that angels can't get into.
