Hey everyone,

As you may or may not have heard there were some layoffs at Capcom USA including myself. As QA lead I want to express my gratification to you and the community for your continuing support for this title. I worked diligently as the QA lead to listen to your concerns and do all that I possibly could to ensure that this version of Devil May Cry lived up to the strengths of its predecessor. I worked on Devil May Cry HD collection and was proud to see the fan reaction to that game and I was also very happy with how you understood how DmC encapsulated that spirit. Thank you so much for your help and passion. You definitely gave me legitimate standing to argue how to make the title better when others would refuse to answer. I would have liked to have been listened to more as far as design decisions go, but what we ended up with was in my opinion a very great game that has immense potential for a squeal if they were to peruse one.

Thank you so much again.

thanks, brother. not just for making one helluva game, but for doing what you could to satisfy the fans of capcom. i know its not much, but i just want to thank you, for everything you've done for us. i hope the best for you and you're family going forward. and i think i can speak on behalf of this community when i say that, we are happy with what you've done for both you're company and for us. our prayers

Also a shout out to neogaf and "dabomb" in particular that kept a close eye and watchful look on the title. I agreed with so much with what some people said about the game, and tried within reason to incorporate solid and (more importantly) manageable changes to the title. We won a victory with the patch, but it could have raised much more to what we were urging the title to do. As a whole the title was very successful and fun. IMO I think that enemies could have had a couple more attack patterns a piece and dealt more devastating damage in order to balance out the title fully. As it is now though it is still a very fun game that allows the user to feel like a complete badass and perform super crazy combos. (Yo capcom... youtube upload feature for the next iteration)

sorry to hear you were laid off man great job on the hd collection it was fantastic the reboot was pretty good too hope you get another job in this genre best of luck for the future :)

The job doesn't really go with the genre, but I appreciate the sentiment. I worked recently on Dungeons and Dragons and also DuckTales Remastered. I know Iron Galaxy is working for more PC requirements on D&D and you can rest assured that people are doing their best there. DuckTales is phenomenal and I really will miss the Wayforward guys and Rey for their absolute dedication on that game. It should be out pretty soon, just keep tuned into unity and that crew for details.

Thank you so much again.
I heard about the layoffs. If you're the real deal, then I truly am sorry. If it's any consolation, I feel like I'm meeting a celebrity. Not to be a suck-up (but I am anyway, lol) but if you really did work at Capcom, then you're a hero in my eyes. Nothing can take that away from you.

And I'm very glad that you and your associates fought for the patch. I thought it was an outstanding move on your part. Thank you for listening to our concerns.

I personally think that mine were valid, and thought that the whole political message behind DmC was spot-on. Also, my personal congratulations on working on the HD version of DMC3. I know that it built upon DMC1, but Street Fighter II was also built on Street Fighter 1.

Everyone sees the real fighting example set for others in SF2 (no offense). Well, I say that I see the real (3D) action example set in DMC3.

DmC was a worthwhile experiment. The constantly-shifting backgrounds brought something new to the action formula, in my humble opinion.

You're a great guy. I really hope you find a job. I actually moved out of the states because it was so hard to find one and I didn't want to get caught off-guard with another economic crash like in 2008.

I don't know what else to say, except... good luck, and thank you once again for everything you've done. Also, thanks for reaching out to us via this forum.

I'm sorry you lost your job. :(

Actually, I know the owner and founder of Starblind Entertainment. They are an indie company currently under going a restructure and will be officially opening up again next month. The founder is interested in bringing in a lot of new people as well to fill a variety of roles.

I know it's nowhere near as awesome as Capcom, but if you are interested, you can PM me and I'll give you the guy's contact info.

Sorry about you losing your job. I hope you can find another company to work with. I won't give any suggestions, but I will be hoping for the best for you.

In return I'd like to thank you for all the work you've done. I agree that DmC is a pretty fun game. So thank you for your work on it.

Personally I would suggest Nordic Games. They're the ones making Darksiders III. With you on the team, they could revamp the combat system and it could end up surpassing DMC3.

I have to say that, like a few others said, I feel like I'm meeting a celebrity. And I keep forgetting just how tied into and important our site really is in the gaming world! It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy... Though I'm sorry about the job, like the others have stated. I think someone with your kind of influence should've been able to stay, but I guess charisma only goes so far, unfortunately... I guess we'll just have to see if Capcom has the chutzpah to hire you back, huh?

Hey everyone
I'm sorry you lost your job Meier. I hope you're able to find another one in the industry :3 I'm sure saying you worked at Capcom will look great on the cv, that's for sure. I wish I could help somehow, but maybe the suggestions from others above will instead ^^

And thanks for all your work on the HD collection and DmC :3 I agree with what you said on it that having a few extra attack patterns on enemies along with the damage thing would've been good, but it's still a hell of a lot of fun to play. I hope if they do more of the game in the future, that they'll add that.

Best of luck to you in the future Meier ^_^

He is only one person and I doubt he played a extremely pivotal role in making DMC3 or DmC....in fact he worked for Capcom's USA branch they don't dabble much in game design of actually creating gameplay but more or less deals with stuff such as patches and ports and other stuff.

I knew that he only worked on the HD version of DMC3 and patches on DmC. However, being a part of anything DMC3-related (or even anything involving DmC) is still a hell of an accomplishment, in my humble opinion. Not to mention that he would still be quite an asset to Nordic Games should he ever decided to join them... and if they decide to accept him as well.

Due to NDA's I can't really get into details on how extensive of an influence my team's involvement was on development. Anyways what I can tell you was that I was QA lead for DmC, the patch, the DLC (all of them), and all of the demos (trade and public), not just patches.

Anyways, thanks for the suggestion of Nordic Games, but I'm not willing to relocate from California or the US just yet in my life. Plus, I don't know the Swedish language.

Swedish language - very easy.

Not as hard as arabic, korean, chinese or japanese.

It's more similar to english than the languages i listed above. Plus more and more english words are being used among swedes and other noridic countries.

As if Christian Svensson's quitting Capcom wasn't enough! You too? You're an ex-Capcom employee?

Well, I am glad you found some legitimate flaws of DmC and I must say excellent job on that DmC patch on those bugs/glitches thing. Also, excellent work on the DMC HD Collection which added many CapcomUnity.com fanart from its members too!

You are the hero to our eyes. You would've been one of the many voices of reason behind the good of Capcom. Unfortunate you have to leave...

I take my hat off to you, good sir, for reminding us that there are people in game companies that do hear its fans/customers out! You are that very reminder! :)
