Story Recap before new game?

Can any Devil may cry buffs out there provide an easy to understand story recap. From what I understand, the DmC games have always had great gameplay but the story lacks in some departments and is hard to follow. What is the basic gist that I should take into the new game that releases really soon? I just purchased DmC:4 and have never played another game in the series.

Any help would be appreciated!

Reboot plot have nothing in common with original series expect using names of characters and few weapons. Its comepletly diffrent timeline and world, right now its suposed to be alternate reality.
