Something I didn't mention before

Before the game's release, I tweeted and asked NT if Dante had lost someone important in his childhood. I told them that I had guessed he lost a childhood friend when he was in those orphanages. They replied by asking whether I wanted some spoilers. I asked for a confirmation that my idea was right or something indicating that I was close. They went silent on me.

I didn't say anything because wasn't sure if their silence on the matter was a confirmation or just then being too busy to reply back.

Well, I guess he did effectively lose a childhood friend at the orphanage-- Vergil. It was because of that that they became separated. Vergil is adopted into a wealthy family while Dante, from reading between the lines, broke out after killing a lot of the demon staff there and lived in gangs. The because Sparda wiped their memories, they couldn't remember each other to try and become united again.

Maybe that was what NT was referring to?

Well I'd imagined both scenarios could be right as Dante could have lost a friend in the orphanage in addition to Vergil. Dante has a "tragic" life so I'd imagined Vergil and Eva are not the only losses he suffered.

So...you got led on by someone at NT and there's no information to bring to light...?

It sounds like they couldn't be assed to reply, misunderstood your question and thought it was about his family, or coyly told you they weren't going to reveal anything so specific one way or another with confirmation or denial.

As of yet, nothing has changed :S Although it's reasonable to think that he probably had a buddy or two.

I'm thinking Dante didn't, at least in St Lamia. Due to the prequel comic Vergil Chronicles. It shows Dante alone against the demons. He has trust issues since St Lamia and it definitely is expanded upon during the Bob Barbas fight.

Age 8, attacked a demon nurse and killed her.

11-15 he broke out of 8 youth detention facilities using brutal humiliating attacks on demons. (Cigarette burn anyone?)

16-17 became involved in gangs and did over a dozen kills on demons. He fled into different places that had little to no demon supervision.

Now there's a place we can expand upon.

This does vary, however; the comic (along with most cross-media/promotional comics) has a flimsy continuity, and the rap-sheet Bob gives out is a can of worms in itself. Bob is trying to slander and discredit Dante, so which statements are true, which are true but bent to a negative outlook, and which are just complete bullshit?

Unless a sequel (or full-canon expansion of some kind) has Dante himself explaining it, we are in the dark.

Also, SO HYPE, THAT FINAL SMASH!!!

I seriously believe that the "where" and "when" in Bob's stories are true but, the "why" and "who". **** no.
