I don't know if everyone knows all this yet but just in case there are some who don't i got news for u.

This is exactly what the magazine said.

"Dante's alternate weapons are accessed in a way that should feel familiar to fans of Ninja Theory's Heavenly Sword. Players simply hold down R2 or L2 to access his demon/angel sides, and his weapons and utility moves change accordingly - no need to swap weapon sets or enter a pause menu. In addition to changing his weapon gains a stomp and pull move in his demon form or a lift and guide in his angel persona. The upshot of it all is that switching weapons mid-combo is seamless, and Dante has improved mobility thanks to a chain that works much like Nero's Devil Bringer from DMC 4."

I dunno if I like this. I thought the the DMC 3/4 weapon switching system was fine. Plus I was not fond of holding down a button just to use a different form of weapon in HS.

This is just me but I would rather just tap the R2 to switch to the axe and then when I don't feel like using it anymore I will tap it again and go back to the sword.

What do u guys think of this?

the reason why its like this is because your using 3 weapons at once. Much like dmc4 where u could tap once to get a weapon, or double tap too select a different one. To me, i hated dmc4's weapon select. I would forget which weapon would be next and pick the wrong weapon and cycle through it again and STILL have the wrong weapon and thats a crucial moment that takes precision. Even if i happen to just barely touch it, sometimes it'll toggle twice which also would suck. As for dmc3, which is the best system i think, would only let you go in with two weapons at a time, so switching back and forth was a cake for long air combos. And DmC is taking from dmc3, just adding a second weapon on the other shoulder. In the sake of Heavenly Sword it was never about getting off ridiculous combos so when you would switch weapons in mid combo, it would just have a final hit with the respected button held down. As For DmC, its supposed to be seemless switching with additial combos to follow. The problem is, i hate holding down while attacking. Its to pointless. DMC3 perfected 3 weapon select when u got to play as Vergil. And all you had to do was tap. But even that was tedious sometimes when i would select a weapon out of order, and my whole set up would be ruined.
So......
It sucks that you have to hold the button but at least its better than Heavenly Swords system and its not the same.

It sucks that there wasnt anything about holding down the button as it affects your guns...

i never even thought about the angel/demon abilities affecting your guns, maybe this will happen when you upgrade or something, if there is an upgrade system

Thanks for sharing this information

They didn't need this angel / demon stuff in the first place, so I don't see the need to defend the Heavenly Sword style controls. To me it's just yet another example of them straying from what the game is about, and not being able to move on from their previous games. The whole situation just makes me laugh these days.

you don't know the story, you don't know what is "needed"

Not being able to move on from previous games? If you were talking about capcom then its pretty obvious. If your talking about HS the weapons mechanic has changed greatly. And by watchin the gameplay, the combos seem much more like DMC than HS from every aspect. HS's air combo's were stupid dial a combo and it was like a mini game. DmC seems like it encourages you to keep them in the air from a seemless transition from the ground, like previous dmc games, except theres a lot more you can do now while fighting in the air.

yeah you can tell they are putting an emphasis on aerial combat

This new "hold to toggle" system definitely gets a positive vote from me. It'll make combos even more seamless and it will get rid of the frustration of accidentally skipping over the weapon you wanted to use.

Plus, no styles, thank god. Everything Dante's got will be given to us without needing to switch to another damned style.

yup
your just gonna have to figure out what buttons to press instead of constantly switching between styles, they should be all integrated into dantes move set
