WayForward is awesome. They're doing a kickstarter to make another Shantae game. A franchise Capcom just kinda forgot about despite them being great games. Loved these things on the Gameboy.

This new game is looking promising and also WayForward are very talented developers especially when it comes to platformers. If you would like to help get this game made then feel free to donate a few. Let's bring Shantae back!

She looks adorable! Siliconera, "Shantae Now Has Her Old Skin Tone Back In Shantae: Half-Genie Hero".

Ahem, recent news for Shantae: Half-Genie Hero and Shantae and the Pirate's Curse. Wayforward added a goal of $700,000 for Half-Genie Hero that will add alternate costumes that apparently will have different stats and abilities. Siliconera, "Shantae: Half-Genie Hero Adds Stretch Goal For Rebalanced Game, Alternate Costumes".

Aww... She looks so cute.

So, Shantae: Half-Genie Hero is for the Wii U, Xbox 360, Xbox One , PS3, PS4, PC, and recently announced if the goal makes it: the PS Vita; the goal is only $400,000. Siliconera, "Shantae: Half-Genie Hero Announced For Wii U, 360, PS3 And Next-Gen Consoles" and "Shantae: Half-Genie Hero Now Coming to PS Vita As Well".

Exclusive to the 3DS is Shantae and the Pirate's Curse. Siliconera, "Arrr! Shantae and the Pirate's Curse Gets Its First Trailer" and "How Shantae and the Pirate's Curse Is Similar But Different From Metroid".

So, Shantae and the Pirate's Curse picks up after the previous Shantae game and Shantae is left powerless - hmm, Metroid vibes tingling. Now, Shantae has to team up with Risky Boots to take on a pirate's curse - it's in the title. Apparently, Shantae will become more pirate-y as she collects pirate gear while becoming faster and gaining new abilities.

Since Risky Boots has a ship, any self-respecting pirate would, the game will feature a stage select screen using Risky's boat for travel. Each island apparently will be unique and feel Metroid-like where areas once inaccessible becomes accessible later.

Shantae and the Pirate's Curse will feature a more retro-styled look compared to Shantae: Half-Genie Hero.

Good news from Wayforward: here's the design for Risky Boots in Shantae: Half-Genie Hero. Also, she is going to be playable in that game. Siliconera, "Risky Boots Playable In Shantae: Half-Genie Hero; Here's Her Sprite".

As of this post, Shantae: Half-Genie Hero only has 18 days to make its $400,000 goal. Currently, the pledged amount is $291,477. So, a little over $100,000 left to go until Half-Genie Hero becomes more than just a dream. So, take her hand and make this dream come true.

Wanna know how the animation process goes for Shantae: Half-Genie Hero? Check out this video.

In other news, Mighty No. 9's development team joins Wayforward for Shantae: Half-Genie Hero. Joystiq, "Shantae teams up with Mighty No. 9 dev for 'Half-Genie Hero'".

Inti Creates, Keiji Inafune's team for Mighty No. 9, will help Wayforwarf for both Shantae: Half-Genie Hero and Shantae and the Pirate's Curse.

Oh, and as of today, Shantae: Half-Genie Hero has 16 days to go and about $70,000 until the project reaches a go ahead; it's almost at $330,000. So... have a gif.

Hey, Chancey289! You might want to change the thread's title since Shantae does not need help anymore! As of today, September 23, 2013, Shantae: Half-Genie Hero has met its $400,000 goal with 10 days leftover. Now all that's left are the stretch goals. At $500,000, Risky Boots will be playable. $900,000 would add three more playable characters, Rottytops, Bolo, and Sky; each having their own stories and abilities. And $1 million would add a "Nega-Shantae" bonus chapter. Siliconera, "Shantae: Half-Genie Hero Reaches Funding Goal".

A thank you from Wayforward.

So we now have Mighty No. 9 and Shantae: Half-Genie Hero to look forward to.

Here's an update about the game's level design. Siliconera, "WayForward Give Insight Into Shantae: Half-Genie Hero's Level Design".

It's not much, but the levels has a beautiful painted look to them.

Here's some stage concepts:

As Siliconera reports, WayForward is working on 2 intro segments for Shantae and Risky Boots, 5 main chapters, and "an epic conclusion". Also, some worlds will be themed by the stretch goals and each chapter will have its own music, enemies, bosses, effects, and other things to prevent games from being repetitive and dull. That said, when a game remixes a theme into amazing and unique versions of it, that's still pretty cool; Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon did this while Super Mario Galaxy had remixed/rearranged tracks that fits the moods of a certain levels.
