Though we are still awaiting official confirmation from publisher Electronic Arts, it appears that developers Grasshopper Manufacture have taken it upon themselves to reveal the official release date for the forthcoming
Shadows of the Damned. A collaboration project between videogame auteurs Goichi Suda (aka Suda 51) and Shinji Mikami,
Shadows of the Damned is set to arrive on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this summer.
In
Shadows of the Damned gamers are cast in the role of Garcia, a professional demon hunter who finds his true love kidnapped by vengeance-seeking demons. As he explores the farthest reaches of the netherworld Garcia faces danger and turmoil around every corner. The game features a grotesque, highly stylized art direction that transports players into a grisly world, with the entire experience enveloped by a pulse-pounding musical score by famed videogame music composer Akira Yamaoka.
While it’s long been known that Electronic Arts and Grasshopper Manufacture were aiming for a launch this summer, no exact date had previously been revealed. However, this morning Grasshopper Manufacture’s official English language Twitter account changed all that in a response to a fan’s comment about the most recent trailer.
After the fan suggested that the trailer had ‘blown their mind’, the official Grasshopper Manufacture Twitter account stated that they would be able to ‘put it back together’ on 7th June. With this being a Tuesday, it’s likely that the European launch would take place on the following Friday, 10th June 2011.
