Secret Missions?

Did you like the look of the secret mission in the trailer?

  • No, but I wouldn't mind if they're all similar to this one if they make some little changes.

Taking Back Lordran One Boss At a Time
The Secret Missions of DmC look like they will be different than the missions of the past DMC games--at least from what we've seen from "The Secret" trailer. In the trailer, instead of completing a certain goal, Dante was completing a sort of secret world with platforming and combat.

I think the missions will run as a sort of side-quest or a side-story. Seeing as how at the end of "The Secret", Dante removes a chain that seemed to help anchor that floating castle in the middle of the ocean, I'm guessing that the Secret Missions will have you removing each chain until the final mission, where you'd have to go through the floating castle somehow.
Or maybe you must complete all of the secret missions to complete the story 100%?

What do you guys think?

I am asking you guys what do you speculate will be 'different' about these missions? Are they just straightforward point A to B missions? What do you think will be the reward?

I feel like the castle is too integral to the storyline for it to be a secret mission. In previous games, secret missions were optional and could be ignored. It would be weird to release a trailer that doesn't show something "core" to the game in some way (even though, NT hasn't released much about the story thus far anyways).

Then again, I could be wrong and the castle is a completely different arc within the game and is more of a side quest. Who knows at this anyways?

I hope that they're like little mini-missions. I could never finish any Secret Missions in the other games, because they were too hard. Except for 2, and I loved those Secret Missions. Fighting two Despair Embodieds at once was amazing. So I'm in favor of a point A to point B mission if it involved platforming and combat.

Ninja Theory mentioned something about it being just a secret mission in an interview...I don't have a link to prove it though.

Oh, that changes everything. Thanks for the clarification. I can look for the article it myself. I haven't been keeping up with all the news with this game, would you happen to remember the article name or the title if it's a video?

I hadn't seen that video before. It's... interesting.

All those red banners look like Dante's triggered coat. And speaking of his coat, it being so dark-colored might be a bit of a problem. There's a part with strong sun glare, where he's very hard to make out against the back ground.

Nope, I can't say I remember either :/ sorry.

They said in the Capcom Blog, when they posted "The Secret" video:
"Showing off yet another environment in the game, this trailer is set in a secret area of the game. Transported Dante will get here When finding secret portals hidden throughout the game."

Nice observation skills :)

Man both these options mean the same !

Yes, but I hope there's more variety
No, and I hope not all of them are like this

I like it. As much as I enjoyed the previous secret missions, this one sounds like it will have more context. I was kinda reminded of Assassin's Creed; in the sense that those games had hidden side missions that came all together in a final, cathartic event.

That castle in the distance looks really ominous, and if all the secret missions lead there, then it'll make things much more interesting.

Ah thanks for the comfirmation.

Lovely avatar by the way.

Maybe the castle in the distance is the new Bloody Palace or a new game mode similar to it
you mean the thing in the secret area, chances are that's bound up in chains, and wearing red, chances are it might be "the big baddie" since Dante's inferno (game) did the same thing with Lucifer

Yeah, but beating Lucifer wasn't optional. These chain-levels are supposed to be bonus-stages.

Maybe the castle is full of like 1,000,000 red orbs , or maybe like the ability to play as original dante , or maybe a new devil arm.
but something tells me they are going to make you fight your way through an ambush before hand

Maybe the castle is full of like 1,000,000 red orbs That would be really lame...
, or maybe like the ability to play as original dante Subliminal wishes
, or maybe a new devil arm. That would be awesome
but something tells me they are going to make you fight your way through an ambush before hand As long as not all the secret areas are as simple as "kill a handful of enemies, proceed to the chain and break it by tapping [], I am fine with everything.
