Time for a short fanfic story kids! Its a Sanctus related tale!

Once upon a time in the city of Fortuna a elderly man sought audience with his Holiness, Sanctus. The old man, fail, grey, and humble approached the equally old, fail and grey Vicar of Sparda.

"Your Holiness." The old man beckoned as he kneeled before Sanctus. "I beg of you, hear my request. I live on the outskirts of the island, and demons plagues the sea. It will not let me fish, and my family is now starving. Please remove the demons."

The old Vicar of Sparda rises from his plush, gold chair and walks over toward the old man. His gold and white robe dances with each step. Kneeling beside the old fishman, Sanctus whispers into his ear.

"Fear no more my child. The Savior shall deliver your salvation."

Sanctus pats the man on the back then gets up and heads for his personal chamber.

"I shall return in the morning." Sanctus says as he opens the door leading to his room. "I shall have good news for you then. In the meantime, allow my guards to escort you to a room for the night.

The old fisherman showers the Vicar with thanks as he closes the door to his chamber. The winds howl and the blue moon shines softly on the sandy beaches of Fortuna. His Holiness strolls through the quiet beach taking in the serene atmosphere. Walking to the shoreline Sanctus takes a deep breath then calls out.

"Demons! By order of The Savior I am here to slay you and your brethren and return the oceans to his faithful followers."

Seconds turn into minutes, finally the sea begins to swirl. Bubbles form within the sea water and with a tremendous boom the ocean explodes. A demonic multi eyed fish hovers above his Holiness. The 20 meter tall demon eches closer to the shoreline and Sanctus. Behind the creature the waters bubble suddenly then stop.

"A geezer dares to challenege me? The great Tateobesu!*" Tateobesu laughs as it jerks side to side within the waters. "You've got guts human. I shall award you with something more… your size."

The sea bubbles again and with a bang five Blade* demons shoot from the sea. The lizard demons land on the sand and quickly surround Sanctus.

"What a pleasant reward." Sanctus coughs then reaches into his oversized sleeve.

The blades howl then leap at Sanctus. SLASH! Green blood and the heads of two Blades dance through the air. Sanctus whips around Red Queen, finally slamming it into the sand. The old man revs the engine on the blade's hilt and with a grin Exceed Streaks a nearby Blade.
To the bewilderment of Tateobesu Sanctus uses the blade's momentum to slide across the ground and decapitate a fourth Blade. The final Blade spits poisonous spikes at the old man who dodges them and slashes the creature into the air with the High Roller strike.

"Damn you human!" Tateobesu roars. "You fooled me! You won't get away with this."

The salty sea explodes again as ten Assaults* zip through the air and at Sanctus. The Assaults, claws ready and maws open wide converge on the old man. With a eerie smile Sanctus is bathed in gold light that sends the Assaults crashing into the sand below.

"Burn!"

Several golden fire balls zoom forth from a gold transparent sphere surrounding the old man. Two blue orbs dance beside him. Five of the Assaults are struck by the flaming orbs. They let out a hellish cry as their bodies melt before Tateobesu.

"Resistence is futile."

Sanctus motions his hands causing golden waves of energy to rip through the sand and remaining Assaults. The Vicar of Sparda then hovers majestically before the demon fish Tateobesu. Enraged the demon fish lunges at Sanctus, the old man merely floats out of the way. Sanctus waves his hands causing the two blue objects hovering beside him to shoot out.
Tateobesu hisses as its body vanishes, the two blue orbs hover targetless in the air.

"It vanished." Sanctus looks around. "Where did it-"

ZAP!

Sanctus gasps in dismay as thousands of bolts of electricity crackle around his orb shield. The orb cracks as its color changes from gold to red and then…

"Urgh!"

Sanctus's body is infused with massive amounts of electricity. His shield broken, the old man cries out in anguish as he crashes into the sands. Tateobesu chuckles as it reappears from its camouflaged state and hovers over the crater left in the sand.

"Stupid human." Tateobesu mocks. "Did he think because he gained demonic power that he could-"

The red glow of the sand catches Tateobesu's many eyes, steam billows into the air.

"I sentence you to death!"

A red orb shoots from the sand into the sky. The red solid orb becomes transparent revealing Sanctus Diabolica, the old man's true ascended form. Now sporting long horns on his head, and halo made of wings on his back, Sanctus now with the sword Sparda in his hands, pulls it beside him. With a mighty thrust of the Sparda sword, the Vicar zooms straight at the vanishing Tateobesu.

CLASH!

Despite disappearing, Tateobesu screams in horror as the Sparda sword tears through the demon's mouth and right through the back of its neck. Sanctus zips into the salty ocean as the dead fish collapses into the waters soon after. Sanctus rises from the sea, the Sparda blade dripping with green blood. The ocean chuns, swirls and then explodes.
Several Tateobesus rise from the saltly waters and leer at the demonic Sanctus. The demons unleash their electricity beams at Sanctus who narrowly dodges the concentrated attack by shooting up into the sky.

"You fowl creatures. Prepare for judgement." Sanctus raises his arms into the air. The once serene night sky changes into a dark, stormy, fog. "The Savior is coming!"

A humongous shadow looms over the beach, the Tateobesus gaze up in horror. Emerging from the thunder riddled sky is The Savior, the giant deity leers at the fish demons. The gold halo behind the 65 meter tall stone giant glows red with electricity. The Savior lunges back then whips its upper body forward unleashing a massive beam of energy upon the demons.
The energy beam consumes the Tateobesus and parts the ocean in both a majestic and gruesome scene. A giant explosion engulfs the area sending sand and water flying everywhere. The blinding light of the explosion gives way to the morning dawn. As the sun shines upon the ancient castle, Sanctus back in his human form enters the communion room.
Within the room the old fisherman sits at the table eating a spread made for him by the castle's staff. The fisherman rises from his chair and runs over toward Sanctus. The fisherman attempts to bow before his Holiness but is stopped.

"The Savior has brought you the promised salvation." Sanctus smiles at the old man. "Please finish your meal, then I shall personally take you home."

Sanctus leaves for his personal chamber as the old man heaps gratitude and praise on the Vicar. Inside his personal chamber Sanctus is greeted by Gloria who sits upon his elaborate adorned bed.

"My dear Gloria, I have returned." Sanctus smiles at the voluptuous beauty while the sword Rebellion hangs on the wall behind him. "Has Agnus been revived yet?"

"No." Gloria replies. Her tone is lifeless, cold. "It will take time before he is revived."

"No matter." Sanctus leers at the revealing Gloria as he appraoches her. The Kalina Ann hangs on the wall to the right of his bed. "Bring me a clean white robe because I am taking the fisherman back home. The sea and sand should be settled by the time I take him home.

"As you wish." Gloria bows her head then heads for the other door within the room.

Mundus created a fine demon with this Trish woman. Sanctus thinks to himself. All she needed was a little jolt and now she works for me. Plus she looks more refined in this form.

Sanctus lets loose a haughty laugh as Gloria closes the door behind her, a disgruntle look sprawled across her face.

The end.

So the idea behind this was a test-drive for the Savior and the Sparda blade, more or less? Well, it was pretty epic. I can see why people would see Sanctus as some kind of savior-figure when he carries himself like that. Villain with good publicity and all that.

Not exactly. This story takes place in an alternate world where Nero and Dante failed. Nero and Kyrie are still stuck within the Savior, and Dante and Lady are dead. Hence their weapons hanging on the walls of Sanctus's room.
Sanctus thinks he turned Trish back into a bad girl. But she's fooling him, by playing along. Waiting to get revenge on Sanctus and maybe free Nero if he's still alive by then. The demon fish Tateobesu is actually a boss from DMC2, meaning Dante and Lucia never had their adventures.

That's why I used him. It made sense considering I wanted a easy to describe foe and DMC2 is so under used. Plus since DMC2 is last in the timeline I thought it help sell the "the alternate take" on DMC4's events.
