RPG advice...help me!

Hi, guys! So...I'm the GM of this RPG on another forum, and we're getting ready for our third run of it. And...I need help with ideas.

Basically, it's called the Shadow World, and, in it, the players are pulled into another dimension and must face their deepest fears. (If you've read Forbidden Game, then think of Julian's games...but bigger.) So far we've played in an evil theme park and...a haunted house. We've had a few characters die (we're hoping to add more to that list, actually) and, so far, we've had our fair share of mini-unrelated challenges (ie collecting coins, solving puzzles, etc.).

This time...I'm kinda stumped. Before, we had about sixteen characters total (not counting the NPCs)...this time...I'm thinking there will be much more (between sixteen and two dozen, I think); which means we need a bigger arena.

The reason I'm bringing this up here is...I'm thinking of doing it DMC inspired, with Mallet Island as the arena. So...I need ideas for twists, items to collect, if there should be orbs, if creatures should come out of the woodworks, etc. Please throw any ideas that you have at me, because I'm all out. :/

Well, I don't know if you still need help but,

Perhaps the characters are on a ship when a crazy storm outta nowhere hits? (Caused by demons maybe?) Some characters could drown? Hmm...Then they get shipwrecked on the island, but its night so they can't see anything. This is a problem because there's demons on the island and they are attacking people who wander off. Maybe one character could become possessed?

You could throw some Fortuna weather in there too. Not necessarily a forest, but a valley of ice, a couple of mazes that you have a time limit on to get to the other end but if you take a wrong turn, you could end up right back where you started, oh and if you somehow end up in the middle of the maze, which could be the shadow man's base, you either get eaten by his pets OR you Have to switch teams and play against your friends. You can have worm/snake demons under the ground in certain areas, and throw in a few sink holes/sandpits/hidden vortexes too.
I can't remember the details about mallet island so I just threw a couple of dmc3 & 4 & HP inspired ideas ala shadow world style in there.
The runes are a fun element too, you could have a.big room/cave inscribed with glowy runes and the players need to figure out which order the runes must go in to solve a code/riddle so they can get out of the room, and for every wrong entry they make, a complication arises eg. Flying rock demons that come off the walls and attack them at random ala dmc4 style (the sword demons that agnus had created), or you can have the room suddenly fill with ice water or fire or have the air slowly sucked out of it.

I haz only one question, though.
Is Dante going to be in the RP?

That does. I think that would make a good nightmare room...we've had stuff with water before, but never a sinking ship.... *will add it to her list*

Hehe, Mallet's got a castle...and...it's connected by bridge to a "garden" (or, at least that's how it's been with as far as I've gotten *will have to try and find time to check today*). Mazes could be interesting.... Marcus isn't gonna have a base, but a maze might be a nice way to tick off a couple people.

FIRE! Yay! Someone's nightmare was fire and I wasn't sure how to do it...so...maybe set up the riddle and...maybe instead of them getting it wrong...it's really simple and when they figure it out they've got about thirty seconds before the room is engulfed in flame? =D *adds all this to her notes*

Is Dante going to be in the RP?

LOL I thought you were goingto ask that. To be honest...his role in the RPG is completely confidential, so.... *shrugs* I'm going to drag him out of Vergil's nightmare. >_> *is playing Vergil* I'm still not sure if I should take over Dante or if I should collab with someone and let them be him so I'm not talking to myself all the time.

I can't gaurantee anything, and if I do join it will have to be as some minor obscure character that is not integral to the RP and that can, without annoying the hell out of everyone, pop in and out at random intervals. Timezones and having limited time (2 hours a day, and that's if I'm lucky) to go online is going to have that effect on my RP contributions.
Let me know when it's up and running, and I'll see what I can do.

Okay. ^^ *almost didn't recognize Meg for a second there**likes the new siggy* I'm just gonna give a random nickname to everyone and their characters (other than mine) just incase they actually wanted me to keep their fears and characters private and incase any of the other site members are secretly stalking this site. >_>

Here's the fears:
* For me...I'm not sure what to do with one of my muses. Her name's Billy (she's a Potter-verse OC, 16 in the RP, very bubbly Hufflepuff that acts very Ravenclaw-y, pops up in Anachronism, Death Note fangirl) and she's scared of Dementors and loosing her family to Voldemort (either through him killing them or forcing them to join his side, etc.). I'm...stumped. ._. *likes Billy too much to not use her, though*
Luckly...I know what I'm going to put Vergil through, so...yeah.

Hmm...let's call this one...Bedlam. >_>

Okay, this one is complicated. He's basically afraid of an alternate universe version of himself. See, his father is a serial killer who targets anyone with magic (which Art has). He didn't know this until he was fifteen when his father showed up on his doorstep and murdered his adoptive parents in an effort to get Art to join him. Art has since felt bound to him, refusing to join him on several occasions but also giving up a number of chances to kill him or let him die. (Sorry, explanation is kind of long.) So, basically, his biggest fear, is that part of himself that wants to give up his magic and join his father. He's met this version of himself. He's scary and frighteningly good at killing people. But also abused by his father. Ummm...complicated.

-Kirby (what? I needed a name.)

Oh god. He's afraid of so many things...seriously. Allan leaving him, being hurt, being overwhelmed by someone bigger than him, being taken advantage of sexually. His father dying, Allan losing himself to his inner vampire...Take your pick.

And this shall be Sunny and she shall be my squishy...I mean, Sunny. *smacked by her muses**having too much fun with these names*

-Cin:

He's pretty much afraid of being hurt, physically or mentally. Also doesn't have a very high opinion of himself. Quick backstory, he was abused as a very young kid by his father, who later tripped over him and opened his head on something sharp and died on him, so he's... yeah. terrified of that kind of thing. Freaks out if someone is being hurt in front of him. Not if they're already hurt (ie: pinned, bruised, cut open, etc). He's very used to the aftermath.

-Allan (Yep, Kirby's Allan.):

Terrified of Kirby getting hurt, of him being bullied, of him getting taken away, of him going away, of him leaving (Allan), of him dying... most of his fears revolve around Kurt and his well-being, so... He's also afraid of his vampire (that it'll take over his mind, or kill him and take his body to do whatever, that it'll hurt Kirby and we're going to go in circles if I continue). When he was a human he has this fear of being rejected by.. well... anyone, really. Friend, colleague, potential boyfriend...

-Blaire (Oh! Another Potter-verse muse!):

...You can throw anything relatively loud/surprising/sudden at him, he'll freak out. But more so if someone starts cursing him (with a wand), and if he's surrounded by many people, and if someone tries to hurt him and... yeah. Bellatrix and the rest of Voldemort's supporters. He's delusional enough by himself, there's a chance he'll freak at something before his fear comes by. He's terrified of being in a trapped area for too long as well.

And...this one has been dubbed...Ellie!
*Ellie has two muses. One of them...I've got a basic idea of what to do...but for the most part...I'm just not sure. :S (They're both LoTR-verse muses, by the way.)
-Ludo: According to Ellie, he's got a fear of a violent rejection from his dad. Ellie and I both know nothing about his dad and this seems to be Ludo's only fear...I asked her for more info, though, so I might add to this. *stumped*
'Kay, here's a minor bit about him I just found out:

Okay, I have found out more. In Ludo's world there are phoenixes - huge things that burn you if you get too close unless you're wearing a special kind of armour - and the ruling Elven classes can ride them. But the Elf has to be chosen by the phoenix (always the bird and its rider are of opposite sex). Ludo's just been through the ceremony where the phoenix chooses its rider; he was taken up to a wide ledge by his father and was given a staff to hold aloft which told the phoenixes that he was looking for a steed. First his father's flew past to check that it really was Ludo who was asking and not an imposter and then the other female phoenixes began circling, but none chose him. His father was furious, no one in the royal family had ever failed to acquire a phoenix, and ordered him to stay there overnight, but when he returned Ludo was stil phoenixless. His father didn't say anything outwardly but it was obvious he was disappointed in his son, so I suppose his fear from that is his father telling him all the things he'd obviously wanted to say but didn't: 'you're worthless, your mother would be so disappointed, you've brought shame on the family, you'll die alone and unloved' etc. And almost certainly there'd be some physical abuse too.

-Eldu (it's what Ludo knows him as, so yeah...):

Eldu's got so many (awww) but the ones that spring to mind this time and are most different to cynophobia are either his looking and talking like Thingol or his being tied to a chair.

I think I'll be going with the chair one for him...I'm just not sure what to have happen to him while in the chair. >_> *has RPed with this character before, though, and based it on that*

I will say that when there for real Eldu was first visited by hallucinations and malicious voices. Maybe he could do something with that? Well I'm sure he could do something... yeah...

There's one, possibly two, more people joining, so I'll update this if they do. *has one person figured out that she didn't mention on here*

And, because they will actually have to beat Marcus this time (they played on his pity before to let him let them leave. No one knew one of the youngest contestants had lukemia and she got a bad fever and nearly died, so...he made them leave. It helped that he had previously gotten his butt kicked by a few of the contestants.... >_>) I'll add his fears incase you guys have an idea for how to get past him. (I'll cross out the ones we've previously used.)Marcus's fears/issues:
-Fire
-Bugs of any kind
-Dealing with Kai's death
-Being one of the Elders again (he has issues with the other shadow men)
-Loosing control
-Dealing with his maker (Okay...this isn't a fear. But his maker hacked the only woman he ever loved, Kai, to pieces right in front of him when he found out that Marcus loved her and was keeping her in the Shadow world. Verin has possessiveness issues....)
-Being eaten alive/zombies
-Children (just being around them makes him freak out and hide....)

Art: How about he is surrounded by mirrors (almost like a fun house) where he sees this other version of himself. It still acts like a mirror image would (doing everything you do), but its of this other version of himself making it hard to differentiate between the two.

Cin: I keep thinking a room full of needles; on the floor, walls, and ceiling that he/others has to walk across. Perhaps he sees his dad walking along in the room and Cin tries to stop him?

Blaire: Small inclosed space with constant loud noises?

Ludo: How about a long trail with a blast of fire (shaped like a phoenix?) chasing after him. He comes to a cliff and has to jump to the other side. He tries, but misses and he has to hold on to the ledge for dear life. His dad is staring down at him disappointedly. Ludo cries for help, but his dad shakes his head and walks away, leaving Ludo there.

GAH! That's all I have time for right now. I gotta get ready to go to work. >_<
