I completed RE9 earlier on Monday and it is fantastic! It is so much better than 7 & 8, and almost as good as RE4R.
Resident Evil (and survival horror in general), kind of disappoints me now...

Well, I always considered RE4 to be extremely overrated. Not that I'm trying to bash the game itself, 'cause it is a great entry in general. But it doesn't really feel like the old PS1 era games in the slightest. Whether that is an opinion aimed at the story or the combat. You cannot really compare 4 to RE2, for example.
The plot in the recent RE games is making for an absurd feeling of alienation for a lot of people, and I think Capcom only made 4 as action focused as they did, because survival horror alone is a very niche genre, despite the fans the franchise is aimed at.
But survival horror still booms anyway. Just check out Ground Zero, on YouTube.
